doesn't the idea that "leaving stuffed animals is a sign of growth" stem from the arbitrary societal imposition that stuffed animals are childish?
i'm pretty sure it does

Not since seeing my slightly older cousin cry when my aunt threw his teddy bear in the trash one morning when I was sleeping over. She told him mister snuggles is dead, now get dressed and come eat breakfast. It was his 7th birthday.

At breakfast my uncle explained to him why real boys do not play with baby toys. My cousin who sometimes bullied me because he was 2 years older and stronger suddenly seemed weak and I somehow knew next time he would try to beat me up that he would lose.

After his birthday party that afternoon my parents came to get me. That evening just before going to bed I took my 3 teddy bears and placed them in my little sisters bed.

I remember my parents were so proud, especially my father. The next day he took me out to a bike shop and bought me a real bike with training wheels. My 3 wheel bike was then passed onto my little sister.

An old colleague keeps giving me these "roadkill plushies" every chance they get, and they are all pretty macabre & creepy; my favourite so far is definitely an armadillo of some sort.

I once screamed at a baby that looked 2 months older to be using a pacifier. Screamed, "Real men don't need no pacifier!!!" Right in his face, whole room clapped and I was dubbed the king of testosterone.

I once screamed at a baby because it was stupid and sitting there looking stupid... tho I did so after the fact....

babies are stupid... and the only reason the "average lifespan" has increased is due to the massive protections of infants... and that's why the massive protections of infants... every baby that dies lowers the average by like 20 years.
