Young children are not mature to make adult choices. Parents know what is best for the child to mature into a self thinking adult capable of making responsible choices. This includes when their child advances from baby toys to more advanced toys appropriate for their age. Stuffed animals fall into this category.

I see your approach and appreciate the sensibility in it, but it implies that to know and experience "advanced toys" one must relinquish "baby toys." This isn't true. It is the lazy way to help your child along, though... burn the old so they can't access it, then have them focus on the new, "advanced" toys.
But the truth is, a good parent, an effective parent, will be able to teach the child that this older, "baby" toy is what it is and the "advanced" toy is the next step up. The child will incorporate both into their life. I have many toys from my childhood. I also have advanced tech up to my ears.
My mother even buys me toys (modern versions, of course) from time to time for my birthday or Christmas to remind me of what I loved as a child. She loves doing that, and it makes me smile and recall the past. So I put them on my desk to remind myself of my mother and growing up under her wing. These things are not mutually exclusive and can indeed and should coexist with a healthy mindset.
We can be the children we were and the adults we've become.
That's my contribution. Carry on, folks.
Elaborate how long this thread deserves to be?

Well, that is not entirely true.
Some parents force their kids to be vegan, or a musician, or put them on medications that will alter their lives forever. So no, parents do not know best. (:
And, I had stuffed animals and I have greatly surpassed my family in life, either income, education, or just sheer life accomplishments.
I see we are not going to get anywhere as you have made repeated contradictions and history kind of proving what you are saying overall wrong. Yes, to some extent we should learn from our parents mistakes but that isn't really what you have been saying, you've kind of been saying we shouldn't be independent and we should conform to what society deems what should be 'real men' or 'real women'.
We are not going to find common ground so I will wish you the best in life.
Why burn the toys if tit can be given to a younger sibling who has the appropriate age for the toy?
When I was 5 I gave my little sister my 3 teddy bears and 3 wheeled bicycle. As a reward for my charity my father bought me a "real" bicycle with training wheels. See my earlier post that reflects some of your points.

There will be some exceptions but most parents know what is best for their child

i do not. never have. i had some in my childhood on a shelf or desk or something, but wouldn't sleep with them. i think its a pretty cute behavior, and i don't judge people for same. i'd rather a guy had some teddy bears than a meth addiction.
that actually is pretty cute. might use this one for the nephews and neices. they like dinosaurs, and i have to maintain my place as the cool uncle.
i wonder if they have any command and conquer stuffys.
I know right!
There are loads of different dinos in that link too!
I shamefully have most of them. xD
As for C&C sadly I doubt it. Though if you were a huge Mass Effect nerd, they have some cute plushies for that! :D Or Starcraft 2.....
I have zergling slippers, a baneling plushie, and this cute little guy coming in at some point.

I do appreciate it, amazon once again saving me the hassle of traffic and lines, and providing excellent quality. I happen to know their exact preference in dinosaurs, and it seems every single one is available there.
It's not shameful. Impressive more like.
I hadn't thought of searching for Mass Effect or SC2, I'll check that out, because i think i'm getting envious i dont have a pair of zergling slippers.
I would have never guessed you had the RTS interest. color me pleasantly surprised.
Wait until you find out I was in the top 10 in the world in C&C 3 for 3 months in a row near when the game came out. :P
My dad and I would only really ever bond when he was playing a video game and I would sit and watch and RTS use to be among one of his favorites.
And ODDLY ENOUGH! I am going on a huge Settlers 3 binge currently.

thats AMAZING. absolutely insane. C&C3's pace is so fast compared to most, i knew i'd never be able to compete just due to how handy the cpu can crush me underfoot. thats definitely one of my favorite entries in the series as well, where everything came together.
i cant believe it. you are the ultimate war machine.
that's heartwarming you were able to bond with your parents with games. I wish i was able to do the same.
i recall a few of my friends playing settlers a lot, i wasn't able to secure a copy for myself, but that sounds epic, the mechanics looked interesting.
