So now you can tell me the ones that you like and maybe I can try them myself.

Play Katawa Shoujo. Not on Steam, but free as in freedom.

Where?

By far one of the heaviest VN's that deals with situations that on its surface looks to be a love story, rapidly turns against your understanding of the world toward the end of the first and second game in a manner so well crafted that I still am demanding the 3rd installisan of the series.

Is that an official website of the developer or something? I don't do illegal downloads.

According to the official wikipedia page for the game itself, it is indeed the official developer(s!) website and even clarifies that apparently the game..of all things, started as a 4Chan side project hence the ideal name of, Four Leaf Studioes

All the VNs I have to recommend aren't on Steam, like Brass Restoration and Yume Miru Kusuri: A Drug That Makes You Dream. Same with all the KNs I have to recommend, like True Remembrance, LEAVEs and staying the hell away from the one I made in one sitting on July 4th, 2008.

Also I did not authorize the mobile port and I blame the Russian who reverse engineered it's encryption for doing so.

How would you find those?
Eh, Brass Restoration was translated by Yandere Translations. Which, their site is defunct so you'd have to go on the Wayback Machine to download it. JAST sells Yume Miru Kusuri: A Drug That Makes You Dream along with some other VNs I'd recommend like Saya no Uta or Deus Machina Demonbane.

True Remembrance and LEAVEs might be lost media and the only reason I even have them is because I burnt them and a couple others like May Sky to a CD in in the 2000s. Might be able to upload them somewhere, but even if they're freeware - which they are - I'm pretty sure Valve might not want me to link to them.

And no, I'm not going to link you to the KN I made. Sure, it had an original concept and animations in Ren'Py before it was officially implemented via some workaround involving portrait swaps. But you're better off not playing it.

Yeah, Katawa Shoujo was made by anons on 4chan. The demo came out when I was really getting into Ren'Py. There's a bunch of games made by anons that people who might have some reason to dislike 4chan absolutely adore.

Off the top of my head, Risk of Rain, DEADBOLT and Risk of Rain 2 are made by an anon. So is Dashbored, but that's not as well-known. And I'm pretty sure the LISA trilogy would count, though Dingaling was more active on 8chan.

Even did a Q&A there. Was weird.
