Why do people use youtube?

And if the amount You get is connected to the number of people who watch it anyway - it doesn´t lead to overall worse or better content. Agree... YouTube isn't all "life hacks" and "reaction videos"... there's some great "how to" videos that I've used from repairing, to making, just about anything one can think of...

Probably not many - also one needs to have the spare money, and it would need some other changes, to get another mindset about it. Even more so, when money is a bit tight nowadays for the average middle class guy. It just came to my mind when i read Your comment - and i recently watched a video of a live stream - and people donated like 100,-€, and 50,-€, each in a short amount of time. Probably 300,-€ in like 5 minutes. So it´s not about how many people donate, even if most donate like 5,-€.

So i prefer the donation idea much more than doing it with advertisements. Also the way the money distribution works now is that the people with more views, also get the money from content which is made by people, who have less views. With a donation button it´s directly for the content creator, and wouldn´t be redistributed by Youtube, or Spotify, or any other platform - or some fans, or bots, who click the videos of their idols for the minimal required time as many times as possible.

Not too many good alternatives with as much content and diversity. Modern Youtube sucks but that isn't really the fault of the creators that I enjoy watching

Most of the people I watch still use it, therefore I still use it. I would love to migrate to a different platform, but the alternatives aren't as established.
