The PS2 is the coolest console of all time. (Here's Why)

This console, held more games than any other could even come close to, had a ♥♥♥♥ ton of exclusives because of how many small indie games, Japanese titles were on the console.

Had a start up screen where a certain number of towers sat at the bottom was equal to the number of game save files you have and their height was how long you had time played in them.

Every game had their own custom save icons which I am fascinated by and obsessed with. Idk how there is not a wiki for them alone. They can be 3D figures, they can have animations, delete animations, some even change after a certain point of the game.

The amount of cool and absolute amazement the PS2 has still blows away anything else to this day, but hell, some of the greatest games ever are PS2 games too.

I'm actually using it right now to play God of War 1 + 2 and Scarface: The World is Yours.
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the PS2.

Yeah i run all games at 4k. I love the ps2 aestetics. Look at Vampire survivors . The graphics looks like from the 80s and people love it. Means the souls of a game makes them good and gameplay not graphics. Besides mgs2 still holds up in my opinion. The thing i miss the most about this time is that there were no microtransactions and any other bs. I always say thanks that indie devs exist because that’s probably the future for passionate gamers like me. Stardew valley, hollow knight etc are better in quality than any triple a game. I’m not saying everything is garbage these days because this wouldn’t be true. Bethesda, ea and Ubisoft probaly will always be garbage at this point but big companies like bandai namco still exist which sell you games with no shady drm etc. From software totally won me over

Many games to look forward to….pathfinder gets expanded, baldurs gate(larian studios are awesome), bloodlines 2, stalker2, and the gothic remake. Since myazaki basically leads from soft now im also curious about the new mech game. Well Hogwarts legacy looks kinda neat sams for starfield but these are companies im sus even if they produced good games in the past. But looking at the new arkham game and looking at bethesda which didn’t had a good game since skyrim….well

That's why you don't shove your console in a drawer while playing. I had a first gen PS2 and it lasted for well over 10 years with constant abuse.

Maybe the lot sent to your store had manufacturing defects.

PS2 was overrated... immensely so. So much so, the PS3 was nearly a complete flop due to a fairly large numbers of non-returning customers. Not saying the PS2 was a bad console, but it's hardware was the weakest of the generation. It ran at half the resolution of it's competitors. Many of the good game series of prior gens had declined or not been present, or been irreparably changed into something many found uninteresting, case in point, the decline of JRPGs from where they once were in the PS1 era. FPS games were becoming popular, and so was online competitive gaming, which the PS2 lacked.

The way I see that gen is if you want good, fun exclusives, Gamecube. If you want one of the best versions of multi platform games, a set of it's own pretty good exclusives, and online gaming, Xbox. PS2 was the weakest console of that gen, only artificially inflated in value due to a "sales number" that needs to be given with an asterisk given a huge portion of those PS2 sales didn't even occur until after Sony was dumping consoles at $99 and in countries that had no access to anything else, which Sony included to do up until 2013, nearly twice as long of a production run as their competitors.

Not a bad console, but still not the best of all time or event hat generation. It's not even the best or most influential Playstation console, the PS1 achieves that, and it's success is responsible for a lot of PS2 sales in people who were hoping to see a continuation of what it offered. That continuation did not occur.

The PS3 flopped because Xbox came out first, and the PS3 was $500 at release. It also has almost no exclusives. It had nothing to do with PS2 being overrated

on top of all of this, his entire paragraph is a joke. Hes an Xboxer. Xbox stood nothing against the ps2 and the ps2 had millions more titles than any other console, and to this day is still the second most sold console, on top of all of that, the reason the ps3 flopped was because of horrible marketing, and missing features that would stay that way for its whole lifespan that 360 dominated it on. Im not a sucker for either side because im not a fool. PS2 dominated everything, and still holds titles and games that blow any other generation out of the water, and ps3 was generally a huge mistake in many areas. YOu had to talk in GAME. THEY NEVER ADDED PARTY SYSTEMS! On top of all that, PS3 was quite over priced.

So yeah, it took quite a hard fall.

Some people said the same about stadia lol. Pc players will never flock to that because we want to have the most options

PC players always win, I have so many emulators on this bad boy. My pc sextuples as a PS1, PS2, PS3, gamecube, wii, psp, gameboys, pc98 system.
