Used To Be Homeless and Need A Job Now

I was homeless for over 5 years and the past SIX Months I got a room and have lived here. I recently got back on steam and spent like $100 so I could finally have some games. I've nevr bought games before so please don't say I am so frivolous... I have NO Family and NO Friends (And unlike most people who say that it is TRUE COMPLETELY for me)

When I was homeless I stayed in my car and worked at jobs. Because living in my car was much cheaper I could work 1 Month and that money could last me 4 or 5 Months. IT was a way I didn't have to work so much and could quit jobs easier, but I did save some money so I could get a place...

Now that I have a place I don't have as much money saved. It will maybe last 2 week... I'm not hereto ask for money or something by the way...

I always worked at Restaurants and Grocery. These days they pay about $14 an hour, which is plenty for me me (Because let's face it I'll never get a good job or retire right?)... That is enough to cover my rent and allow me to save a couple hundred a month...

The issue is that the job I have are usually pretty bad... Either I hate the work or the staff/customers are really mean and rude and stuff... And I usually don't stay long.... Most of the time I quit a job and go next door and get an instant pay raise because these places keep employees and pay them low and hire the NEW employees for more money, so quitting and getting a new job pays you more...

I guess I am depressed a bit... I don't see the point. I can get a new job but I'll never make friends or find any meaning in the job. The job won't be anything aside from a paycheck to pay my rent and keep me sustained... And I always quit jobs that I am worried I may someday not be able to keep the place I am living in and go back to living in a car.

Interestingly living in a car was okay. IT wasn't bad or scary or anything except I guess when I first started it... The bonus to having my own room is something but not a make or break for me... I do like being able to play video games and watch shows and take a sleep in the middle of the day though...

Can you all advise me on what YOU think I should do?

Also I need to apply for some jobs... What would be a good place to apply for?

I dress well and I am presentable. I believe I can speak in an articulate and intellectual manner... I just want to be happy and have some decent job (I'd be willing to be paid LESS for a good/fun job, then HIGH for a job that isn't good/fun)

I've always wanted to make video games or write comics, or come up with concepts for games and interactions between characters. I bet I could create such a great world that people would love to be in....OR perhaps I would fail at that too, like everything else?

I certainly agree to disagree quite a lot... I won't take any hits from anyone.

There certainly is such a thing, it's just not happened yet... This world hasn't "beat me to [my] knees" and it certainly never will.

My self respect overweighs any respect from someone else. I don't need your respect, because I value and respect myself.

I don't respect money. I think it's pretty dumb. Money isn't something I care much about at all actually...

I don't think much of anything at all about your wealth considering I don't know you or how much money you have...

For me I'd step away from that expectation, because I'm not compliant to the will of others...

Some even started their own restaurant. They make plans to upgrade, and everyday is training, improving instead of suffering.

I'm the type of person who will talk like that to people who complain about their life. Those dreamers need a wake up call. I won't put on a mask to say 'ahhh don't feel bad, this world needs change, people are bad, they should be nice, etc..'. No. I've been through so much, and I dare say - It's us who needs change. We beat that world back to it's knees. Go figure a plan to make at least $3.5k/mth in 3-5 years. Take on the hits. Take on people at work. No matter how unhappy they make you, don't quit until you get where you want to be. Else don't complain if you face a difficult life. :)

Who said I wanted so much money? I simply want a good job NOT contingent on a high salary... I don't need money to be happy. I posted this to see other people's views.

To me you seem like the type of person to judge others based on your bias. But you do supplement valid facts for your own wording (aka: "Pathetic"), and that definitely doesn't contribute to a discussion.

I'm not a dreamer, I'm a knower... But there isn't anything wrong with dreaming either... You can live the way you want without me stopping you, so make money or become an executive at a job. I'm all for it unless you are corrupt and immoral.

How would you feel about manual labour? The trades and construction industries are desperate for workers right now and many pay quite well and require no prior experience.

If you'd be willing to get licenced you could also become a truck/delivery van driver.

If you're in the U.S.: Blue collar trades (Machinist/Welder/Draftsman/etc.) are dying away because there's an entire generation of people who are too busy trying to get internet-famous.

I know Connecticut has a pipeline program where they pay for your schooling and pay you a stipend depending on how long the classes are...then they help you get a job in the field you trained in.

See if something like that exists where you are (if it sounds like something you're into).

I believe the root issue is that you don't want to work (and I am not assuming it's because you don't want to). I have a friend who is the same way. Depressed and cannot hold a job for much longer than a few months. No matter the type of work there is some emotional/psychological burden that keeps building up while maintaining a schedule.

I'm not exactly sure what causes the mental instability but I'm certain there must but some sort of alleviation for this.

Not cool. You don't know her psyche or what it is truly like from her perspective. For all you know, you could be analogously telling a one-legged person to run a race yet say "it's easy, just use both legs!". Someone is asking for suggestions or help and you call that pathetic?

I would give an actual, serious and helpful answer, but I'm not willing to participate in this kind of discussion on this forum. You can add me (if this is a sincere post) and I will try to help, but otherwise, I can only suggest going anywhere else for advice.
