Ridley Scott was a gutless director. He did have an idea in mind for what he wanted to say in the film but chickened out at the last moment due to not wanting to offend people. If you have watched all the videos about the movie online you will know a lot of stuff was cut out of the film, especially the fact the Engineers were the race that gave us ♥♥♥♥♥ and taught him all they knew and sent him back to Earth, Back on Earth he was crucified. That whole part of the story was cut out.

Ridley Scott was a gutless director. He did have an idea in mind for what he wanted to say in the film but chickened out at the last moment due to not wanting to offend people. I think you're probably right. Weyland's arrogance and hubris, his desire to live forever. Shaw's eagerness and desire for answers. The android David's desire to usurp his own creators. It all kind of plays into that theme doesn't it?
