How would you get a small cylinder unstuck from a mini M&Ms tube filled with butter and microwaved mashed banana?
The cylinder is approx 5.1in length, 4.5in girth. Any help greatly appreciated.

Stick it in the freezer or put it back in the micro and pour it out?

The cylinder is really delicate and I'd rather not use scissors or a knife near it.

Well you could use water then... if you keep pouring water into it, it'll dissolve the tubes content eventually, and assuming it's sealed except the opening, the water will eventually push the content upwards through liquid pressure.

I'm not sure if water is going to help in this case as the cylinder was much smaller when inserted and has expanded into the material around it, almost creating a cocoon like barrier.

so you won't cut it open
and you won't use water to soften it, break it down, and push it upwards at its own pace...

alright.

You could heat something smaller up (a needle/pin... maybe?) chip away at the content from above.

Not sure what this has to do with trying to remove a cylinder.

I am really not comfortable with putting pins or needles near the cylinder.

then I suppose you're SoL - I can't think of anything else.

...good luck explaining to the doctor why you have a .. uh, tube problem. :P

Ah well, my bad. I suggest you just assume your 'cylinder' is a lost cause and whack it off with a rusty pair of yard shears. Then feed it to the dog.

What does the doctor have to do with this? It's a cylinder.

Do you think this would help if the cylinder hasn't changed size in approximately 3 hours?

Is there any way you can make the container change size? Can you apply direct heat to it so it will expand? Like with a hair dryer or something similar?
