The chocolate making you fat idea is a myth. It's entirely the sugar content and the fact that the most commonly chocolates in the US.... are pretty much junk. ie, mostly sugar, low quality cacao, soy lecithin, low butter content, maybe the milk in some cases. A 70+% dark chocolate will likely be a net positive. Down around 55% (equal exchange, taza, and those sorts) eh, may negatively affect weight if you have a high carb, low fat and protein, highly processed diet otherwise. Not all calories are the same, and all the other additives, pesticides, herbicides, make a difference.
Dark chocolate is superior because they are :
- Longer
- Harder
- Various shapes
- Hard to swallow
