Batman Begins be all like "Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up."
But I mean, if we didn't fall in the first place, there's no need for the skill.

Falling is trying to solve a problem it created in the first place.

Falling down is a vital skill in building character and strength though.
See, I disagree with the platitude for a different reason.

Falling's not about learning how to get back up. It's about learning how to fall better next time so you don't break something. Because it's the getting up that's temporary here, not the falling down.

Everyone falls on their first attempt. It would be nice to assume that away though.

Batman's real lesson is like "why do I worry? I have money. I can continue". :erune:

The thing about Batman is that while he likes helping Gotham and all, deep down he really just likes beating people up.

Sure, he has the resources to help the city from the top down, and it would probably be a lot more effective. And hell, sometimes he does, a little bit. But he knows that if he does too much for Gotham, nobody would be going out at night trying to mug random citizens, and he wouldn't have an excuse to beat them to a pulp.

I think Bruce is afraid of having to beat up other industrialists.

Corrupt city official colludes with wealthy sadist, covertly signals when its 'safe' to roam the streets picking fights without police intervention. Rumors that vigilante grooms minors, makes them wear revealing costumes.
