I am now an Atheist.
I am a former roman catholic, I found the Bible has too many errors and contradictions now I don't believe on God like there are literally thousands of religions floating around, how can I be so sure that it is the real God, so I finally admit that I was wrong about doubting science and God isn't real if he is really an "all loving God" he shouldn't make this world a f8cked up place to live like sufferings and pain are literally here on this world of ours.

There is no god, only lifeforms isolated on a giant rock turning around a star in space. We were never able to prove god's existence nor to see any impact from a surnatural entity on our world. The only thing we see is physic's laws in application over time and that's about it.

But you don't have to trust science either. For example, everyone learn about the big bang, while forgotting it's only a theory, we have no proof that's what happened. Someday you can wake up in a world were the big bang is proved wrong or right. Science isn't about saying truths to peoples, science is a method used to find what's the most probable theory to be true. Never forget about that, science isn't the same thing as a religion and you should not "believe in science", there is no need for beliefs at all in science.

Interesting, but other than stories written in books, how do you know?
The knowing is the best part. When you actually follow the story from start to finish for the first time and actually invest your time attempting to understand it, you will find that you don't need to "know" anything, and in fact you have been "known" your entire existence, which will extend far beyond a few years here. It might seem like a really weird analogy but just knowing you are known and loved, actually knowing that, you gain the faith the know the rest without seeing it. Much like we know so many other things without having seen them.
Typical religious talk trying to make things as convoluted as possible.

They just want a father figure who will always love them, never leave them and always hold their hand. They never grew up. They're adult children who need to be told what to do and follow his rules to gain his favour. An adult doing this is actually kinda sad.
They don't want to take responsibly for their own lives because daddy will always be there to watch over them.

Goodness me. It isn't really, it is the MAIN POINT of the entire thing, both testaments together. But you know, this is the point where pride defeats the man and we have nothing but some mudslinging. I guess it is going to happen, but really, its just the point of the entire thing.

But if you want to take over 2000 years of something that countless millions have believed, and turn it into a 3 sentence explanation, go for it.

I'm just trying to make sense of the senseless.

In a sense though...

People need to be careful not to get too drunk on "facts" that may change as science progresses. Still plenty of stuff we don't understand in the most basic building blocks of the universe.

People who use science as a shield against fear will use it just like a religion... after all people prefer a comfortable lie than and uncomfortable truth.
literally the thing that makes human knowledge more trustworthy than religion is that it admits it has flaws, it admits it could change, and it's not afraid to evolve

religions on the other hand claim to have the secrets of the universe from the hand of the person behind it, and so they can't change when reality contradicts them; instead they either get bent and twisted in order to say "see, we said this all along!" or deny reality itself

"lol science can change" isn't the own you think it is; on the contrary it's what makes it more trustworthy than any religion

And I agree.

What I am saying is though that some people do use science as a kind of replacement for religion.

Doggedly hanging on and refusing to believe anything but what certain authorities tell them to believe.

The problem is when you stop thinking for yourself in either case.

Edit add - well I shouldn't say "problem" really... some people would rather have others think for them on this level... it isn't the kind of thing that prevents you from working etc.

i find God a God of Love. We humans are sinful, egotistical, self centered jerks, and we should be ashamed of the evil we have done throughout the ages.

God sacrificed his only son to redeem us from the evil we have wrought on all creation. Mankind chose it's path of destruction, God sacrificed his son to redeem those who believe.

I'm saved by grace and that kind of love is priceless....

What kind of father would sacrifice his own son?

I hear about parents killing their children and they're regarded as monsters, but God gets a free pass?
He doesn't sound all that great.

i'm not gonna be ashamed of the horrible things other individuals have done, nor of the individual i am

god sacrificed himself to himself in order to bring "justice" for crimes he put onto humanity
that's not love, that's hero syndrome

Does it really matter if there’s a God or not? IMO no.
I'm of the opinion that the gods were just highly evolved hominids that civilised the less evolved hominids and were worshipped for it. Either Cro-Magnon man or the elongated skull people (or both) are likely candidates. I know this is a dicey topic related to the concept of "white gods" (which is a real thing).

Whether there is an almighty creator God, God with a capital 'G', I'm not sure. I would like to think we're accountable to some kind of higher power.

if the bible had been published as a fictional story there'd be thousands of people theorizing that he's the secret villain of the story and it would be widely regarded as canon

This thread is still going? Damn... Too many "no-fun-allowed" people that don't like believers. It's slightly depressing.

You know what the Christian response to that is:

We are ALL children in God's eyes. Disobedient children at that. By knowing Jesus you have a chance at redemption though.

that's a little too out there for my tastes. Animals of the Earth, I prefer.
What I found amazing is that I do believe in God. Yet, I wouldn't risk pretending I know what he wants to the point I just don't follow any proper religion. So, I am kind of amazed to see some people that don't believe trying to "analyse" the mind of a God. I am legit shocked at the level of ego that would require. The average person can't even tell what their neighbor thinks lmao.
