People need to ask themselves, are you willing to be conscripted to go fight against china for a country / people you have nothing in common with ?
If taiwan takes over, then it's just the KMT party getting control of China. They wanted it, and everything will still be named China.
A bit of history lesson. How is taiwan formed? Long ago China lost the world war, so a civil war happened because the dynasty king could not protect the people and they wish to rule the land themselves. 2 parties Republic of China and the KMT formed and challenged one another. The KMT lost, so they retreat to taiwan and develop that little land to what it is today.
Letting them do whatever they want and attempting to intervene / hold them accountable both have very bleak outlooks.
Everyone likes to pretend like one option or the other is somehow better and everyone who believes the opposite is either a tankie or a war hawk but they both lead to terrible situations where many people will suffer.
I can understand your thoughts, though I don't necessarily agree 😂
"Republic of China" is also China, Taiwan is part of China and there is no problem :)
The government of the PRC and the government of the ROC are two different regimes within China, both of which consider themselves to represent "China", but the reality is that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are divided
