Steam overlay Error Code: -113
When I try to use the Overlay function in-game (Shift+tab) and open up a web browser it always says Error Code: -113, Failed to load web page (unknown error). I've put up with this for a month or so now, but I recently purchased Space Engineers and was trying to use the overlay function to google things in-game without having to alt+tab all the time. If anyone has a solution please let me know. Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong topic, I wasn't sure which one to put it on

I'm pretty sure it's a client bug. I've been getting annoyed by it too. Closing and reopening the browser and revisiting the page seems to be the only way to fix it. It wouldn't be so bad if hitting refresh would fix it, but because the address is replaced with http://error, it just reloads the error page.
Closing and reopening does nothi8ng, i've had to deal wiht this for about a month or so now, its not gonna go away on its own i guess xD

Weird. First attempt I get a -113. Close/re-open the browser without tabbing, then it works.
maybe a firewall or something is blocking it?
I thought the Failed to load unknown error code was 310.

apperently not
I guess not. The only time I get those is when steam is having a hard time connecting to the internet.
exit steam client and try to delete steam client's own internet cache:
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache
where USER is your windows account name.

Thanks ! I thought it was because of some Windows 10 insider build strange problem, but clearing the steam browser cache did the thing.

I dont know what yall have going on but My windows 10 updated and my steam updated and now this same old crap ... anything other than my library loads error . even in big picture loading the web browser and trying to get the marketplace or anything starts it going blip blip blip in an endless looping error. I have changed nothing.. I deleted all caches and histories within big picture and normal in game browser. It is more than a little annoying with trading selling or doing just about anything, before I had to load mozilla and wrk seperately from the browser to do any trading or selling. I havd validated all game folders.... Considering what I have invested here I would hope this is cleared up. I would hate to find out the same old feud between IE and Nutscrape was still in motion i.e. open source versus what are apparently becoming AHOLES at M$. any help post back . this just occurred on a brand new machine with a complete reinstalled steam ... only a few months ago., Thanks.

yep in didnt work in big picture mode but sure enough the third time in standard mode it worked clearing the cache. not sure if my method was just not correct until then or what but it seems to be affected better by closing everything and then opening it all again after the purge. all good

i would love to know how you solved it IRNewton..have this problem for months now
IRNewton Nov 23, 2016 @ 5:40pm
hi yea it never worked for me to delete the cache before and there are actually two accesses if you use that big picture ? mode. anyway I tried like five times and then tried it in the different modes and it just worked. I think they had some programming that was not working and they fixed it because I had an update before it did work to erase the cache. i tried it both in game and in just windowed mode as well and since this whole thing is web browser based I restarted the app..... it reminds me of the 80s when it was a bear to just install a video driver.. you had to get the right combination or at least it appeared that way......... we never know what is going on in the background versus which machine setup and video cards and what browser . I have a couple other machines that are running server 2008 and I have given up on that one and just run mozilla firefox for trading and only load the library to play with it. good luck.
