games to distract from depression?
i need a list of games, preferably free, that will help me take my mind off of my depression and anxiety, even if it's only for a little while. im just not in a good place right now and this is the only thing i could think to do.

ive been on medication for over 2 years. it's not like you take the pills and your illness goes *poof* and it's gone. depression is not something that all people can 100%recover from. some people might, but for others, you can get better and better but in the end youre still going to have days where you feel awful or emotionally empty a lot. recovery is a bumpy road. after 6 years of being diagnosed with depression, ive come to realize that. video games DONT make depression go away. but sometimes you need distractions when youre having an anxiety attack or your suicidal thoughts are really bad. and video games are good for that.
actually your illness will go *poof* if you have a good doctor and change the medication when neccessary
depression is only cure when it's moderate!!! severe depression is not curable, otherwise no one would ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ commit suicide. 6 years of wanting to kill myself every day is not going to go away if i take more pills. it may take down the severity of my depression, but it will never go away. when you have been traumatized, it never goes away. you cant forget what has been done to you. 4 therapists, 3 couselors, 2 psychologists, and 8 psychaitrists have all told me the same thing: my depression will never be 100%gone. so forgive me if i trust the people with phd's more than i trust you-- a stranger on the internet.

i think your hopeless at this point all we have tried to do is help you... sorry but excercising and eating right are good ways to feel better, you dont even look chubby or overweight at all to me your face and body look fine dont know why you have suicidal thoughts if you have familiy issues dont get your panties in a bunch because you can move out when you turn 18. videogames are fun but communicating with people and making friends and excersising will turn out to be fun!!! anyways best of luck we will continue to reccommed things but all in all its your duty to keep your head up and all we are saying is ME and OTHERS have tried to use videogames as an anti depressant and have sometimes made it worse. my counsler suggested videogames one time years ago and it was the worst thing he could have suggested to me I joined my highschools weight training class everyone in there was nice to me i ended up losing around 50 pounds now im running miles in 8 min and have the confidence to meet new people, work harder in college and life, understand others issues as well as mine, and whenever i feel like im getting depressed i know how to break that cycle. hope we helped if you need anything else the gaming communtiy is here to stay remember to enjoy life and think at least your not in the middle of syria not knowing how to read or write with rockets flying over your head scared for your life.
On a second note, I highly recommend Glubbable's servers on Team Fortress 2. The community is absolutely amazing.

Undertale. That game made me happy for a month when I was down. It seriously put me in a non stop good mood. I'm a pretty jaded gamer and wanted to see if the game would live up to the hype, and it certainly did.

I think you need to take medicine for your bitchiness too. A simple "thank you but I'm seeking alternative methods would have sufficed".

because other people have it worse than me doesnt make me feel better. it makes me feel worse for those people and no better about myself. being sexually assaulted by someone you though was a friend and being abused by your own mother scars you badly, no matter what others are going through. and the thing is, i DO excersise. i DO participate in yoga. i DO eat healthy. im explaining that it doesnt make all of the pain go away. yes, it helps, but not as much as id like. this is why im looking for new things to help me.

im sorry for being rude. but i obviously have a problem that im trying to control and getting angry at me like this is not helping.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly makes you depressed? Is it the atmosphere, situation, placement?

I have went through that nasty phase, but I sort of branched out of it through autology and sociology.

In all honesty she probably has to say things like this all the time. I have a physical abnormality and it gets really annoying with people continously asking how I got to be that way.

i already apologized. and mentally ill people cannot control their anger. they can control what they do with it. so im sorry for making that post, but again, please dont get angry back at me for it. im trying to control how im feeling right now and when you get angry back it makes me want to get angry again, and i dont want to be angry.
