Your true opinion about Star Wars Prequels?

Star Wars Prequels (episodes I - III, from 1999 to 2005) are often made fun of, and as the Original trilogy has reached a legendary status to the point where nobody dares to question its awesomeness, the prequels have reached the point where nobody cares enough to question all the hate that they receive.

Yes, Jar Jar was bad.
Yes, there was too much CGI
Yes, the overuse of CGI was a bad idea because it didn't age very well.

But if we compare it to other films of it's time, instead of the original trilogy, is it really that abysmal?

I think that:
1. Lovestory between Anakin and Padme is the worst ♥♥♥♥ing romance ever captured
2. Hayden Christensen (Anakin) downrigh sucks
3. Episode II is the worst in the trilogy
4. I don't care about Jar Jar

WHat I don't understand is people saying that the CGI looks like ♥♥♥♥. In the Phantom Menace? Yes, there it's pretty outdated. But I'm talking about backgrounds and and other minor things, the battle of Jar Jars (Gungans) at the end was really high quality for 1999. Attack of the Clones? It is meh in every way. But CGI in the Revenge of the Sith is really good, especially the opening scene.

My rating of all Star Wars movies:
A New Hope - 10/10
The Empire Strikes Back - 9/10
Return of the Jedi - 9/10 (8/10 if we count the new CGI)
The Phantom Menace - 4/10
Attack of the Clones - 5/10
Revenge of the Sith - 7/10
Force Awakens - 6/10 (YES, I THINK FORCE AWAKENS IS WORSE THAN REVENGE OF THE SITH, SCREW YOU TRYHARD FANBOYS WHO LOVE THIS THING ONLY BECAUSE IT HAS HAN SOLO IN IT)

I won't preach orig versus pre, because that is a load of ♥♥♥♥. And I liked 7. Just not as much as Empire.

Actually, I change my mind. While Attack of the Clones was pretty bad, at least it tries to be serious, while Phantom Menace feels like a show for little kids.

I thought Star Wars was phenomenal when it came out. I had never seen anything like it. Most sci-fi and fantasy was campy or sterile, with middling production values. Star Wars was this giant new thing. I loved Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi when they came out too.

As time wore on, my love for the movies waned. I still think that Empire Strikes Back is good movie and I can still appreciate Star Wars and Return of the Jedi for their cultural impact and verve, but I don't think they've aged well and are really aimed at kids. Good for adventure for kids, but not me anymore. The prequels I didn't like at all and I haven't seen the new one.

It seems like a lot of people think there are only those who love Star Wars and those who hate it. I watched all the movies to date, most of them multiple times, and I think they're really good films, but nothing special. The amount of fan fictions and books and culture stuff related to it is simply too much

I remember being disappointed with the prequels when they first came out, but I quite enjoyed them during a recent re-watch. They haven’t aged too badly.

Star Wars as far as i'm concerned are the 1977 though to 83 the rest aren't Star wars there's so many plot holes it's laughable and the latest one was so dull i fell asleep, they overused the same scenes out of the original 79 one. JJ Abrams is overrated and as long as he leaves Flash Gordon alone i'll be happy....there's no good scifi anymore (the Martian wasn't bad)

I really am not a fan of Star Wars.
Admittedly I was so very young when Episode IV was released that I didn't necessarily appreciate that there really wasn't such an amazing use of special effects or a massive budget space-based epic beforehand to have amazed so many.
To me, it was simply a standard that existed, and in my opinion, what I consider good movies are more about self-coherencey, believable characters and their reactions and an engaging, intelligent plotline rather than the pure escapism and fantastic displayed through heavy use of "artificial" special effects / CG.
So nothing really stood out for me about any of the Star Wars movies whatsoever and yes, the prequels were pale in comparison to the earlier productions.

Oh, I really loved it, just like I do with most of Christopher Nolan's movies, I'm still waiting for a Inception 2 announcement :P

7: Its pretty much the first one remade with fancy CGI

6: They couldn't afford wookies so they choped them in half and called them ewoks (They also made them derpy canibals but who am I to say)

1: If you like this one, you're are an enemy of the state. (Unless you're under the age of ten, then you can look past everything and just see cool lightsaber duels and lazer fights)
