Can someone explain what's so fun about Pokemon Go?

I'm not trying to bash it but I just don't understand, I installed it I played it for a bit and I uninstalled it because I don't get the point, it was honestly one of the most boring games I've had on my phone, and I almost never have any games on my phone because they all kind of suck.

So what are you supposed to be enjoying in Pokemon Go? Catching pokemons is boring because there is no challenge and no gameplay you just flip the ball and you catch it like every time. Am I doing something wrong here? why do you just get it every time? In the "traditional" pokemon game it's fun to catch pokemons because you have to get them low without killing them, and it's really difficult to catch powerful pokemons. Higher risk/difficulty gives you better rewards. Where as here you just.. I don't even know if any of the pokemons are stronger than the rest, I think they're just all the same.

Sure you get the "AR" thing which is not really AR because the game doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ what's actually in the world, it just uses gyroscopes to detect orientation, the pokemons just float in space the game doesn't even know where the floors are. Where as actual AR like one of those gimmick effects in Sony phones, at least it knows where the floor surfaces are. This has gotta be one of the most gimmicky use of AR I've seen so far.

And there's the traveling part, it just seems like a conspiracy plot by the oil companies to make people travel more and release more green house gases. I mean why do I have you actually physically travel to places!? If I wanted to travel I go and travel I don't need a game to force me to. And if I don't want to travel I don't travel I don't want a game to force me to. Just seems like a motive for me to root my phone and emulate my location instead.

I don't even know how the combat works because you can't battle people unless you're at a special location, like you can't battle people face to face? Really? Why? I mean that's really one of the necessary features since the first pokemon game and you can't do it here?

One of the things that instantly turns me off from any mobile game, is the existence of coins or gems or any other real money currency. And needlessly to say, pay to win schemes. I'm sure this game isn't directly p2w, but it's one of those indirect p2w type where paying makes it much easier and faster to get strong. Also, you gotta pay for the traveling don't you? Sure you can walk but that's slower and you can't get to as many rare pokemons as somebody with a private jet.

And lastly, only the original pokemons? I don't know if this is laziness or cashin on nostalgia or both. Just look at the quality of those models! You can afford to have plenty more than that! Look how many cards Hearthstone has!? Or any other collectable based game!

I played Hearthstone even though I uninstalled it because I completely suck at it and have no grasp of how to get better. I could get some wins with decks made by my experienced friends but I have no idea what makes those decks better than mine, it's just all completely mysterious to me. But I would MUCH rather play that game over this pokemon Go ♥♥♥♥ any day. Yet Hearthstone was never as popular, WHY!? Just WHY!? I don't understand!

Like I said, if I like traveling I can travel without pokemon Go. If I don't like to, then I don't want a game to force me to. If I just want to sit on my ass then I should be able to do that and still play the game.

I would assume that some of the appeal would come from the social fun that can be had together with others as well as the idea that one could find a rare Pokemon. I don't really care for either one of those, but I can see why some people would play it.

Whats fun? Huh You want me to explain. Well let me tell you the story about the 90s kids who grew up with pokemon. They had dreams of capturing pokemon in real life. It is the start but we all wished. We grew up collecting and playing the video games. And here we are. 2016. We had bad days. Nintendo and Niantic fulfished our wishes. Capturing pokemon is addicting and fun. Its the reason why its so popular and its free! Almost people you know are having fun with this game. You wanna know why? Because pokemon.

Then why would you not be playing any of the sit on your ass pokemon games, instead of the AR phone app designed specifically for you to go out and move around.

Your entire ramble seems unfocused and kind of silly, especially the middle part. "Why do other people like something I don't?" Because they like it, and find it enjoyable while you don't. Easy answer. I would quiz you why you like your games, but you hide them behind the private profile. Oh, and the part where you call GO a pay to win, then say you would rather play another, actual p2w mobile game.

I'm a 90s kid, even though I didn't play that much pokemon, I played fire red when it came out on my GBA SP. Pokemon is a good game series because it had good games, not because it had pokemons.
So in the same way, today just because a game has pokemon, doesn't make it a good game. if a game is attempting to just have pokemons then it's what's called a "nostalgia cash grab".

I can somewhat agree. While I do enjoy the game I don't like the lack of a leveling system and social features that were shown in the trailer.

I enjoy the concept of the game. However it feels VERY lackluster right now after seeing there is very little content. Allthough I hear through the grapevine they are planning on adding trading and battling other people properly which would make it 20x better.
