I also can't key skills in MMOs, I have to mouse click or I always hit the wrong keys. Probably has something to do with my left-handedness and my two fingered hunt and peck typing skills.
It doesn't matter if you let them down. If anyone has a problem with you letting them down, it´s probably some wanker you shouldn´t be worried about in the first place.
You can always use a controller, if you like.
Been using the same one for years and yes I turned off mouse acceleration.
It seems I both go toooo fast and keep going overhead and too slow? I just can't find the right settings or dpi speed.
It doesn't sound like your hands are 'trained' to use a mouse properly. If you're lifting the mouse to move in any way beyond 'when the cursor meets the mousepad edge' physically, there are many ways to change this...
practice, being the most important. But you shouldn't have an instinct to pick the mouse up UNLESS it's already at the point that you physically need to in order to continue moving the cursor in that direction.
What size of a location are you playing at? Like, how wide is your mouse area? I've been playing far too long with a too-narrow area, so I know that you do HAVE to pick up the mouse at times, but really it shouldn't need to when it's configured properly. A wider location might help, so you won't just... roll the mouse right off a pad or your table, lol.
there may also be types of input lag such as you'd get if you're running other software that is interfering with your mouse. Is it a wired version, or wireless? If you're using a wireless mouse, *trade that puppy in and get a wired one*. They're FAR more responsive overall, and can also help train your hand to stop lifting and keep scrolling a little longer.
For starters, in most games, enemies move towards you anyway, making them easier to hit. If they don't, try to find a choke point so they are more cooperative in lining up...
Hitscan weapons also help. I also prefer weapons with a large fire rate and less damage/bullet -- makes it easier to hit stuff if you can just spray ahead, instead of trying to make every shot count. Same holds for things like dual-stick shooters -- it's easier to aim if you can see where the shots are going.
Of course, snipers are still fine -- given an appropriate distance, enemies tend to be unaware.
I been trying for years but I just cant stop lifting a mouse unless I got a brick tied to my hand (which I tried for 5 months)
. My mouse area/pad is 15in by 10in razor gaming pad.
2300-2700 dpi or 1700 if i need something slower but i even can play with 5000 dpi but i can only play pyro in tf2 with that speed well , i know i once messed around with the dpi while playing tf2 , i think i could play socut and pyro up until 9000 dpi , 12000 was like a spinbot simulator where i just held down m1 and tried to get though doors with strafing xD
using it more will make it feel more normal and you will get better with it
edit:
and i used a gamepad for tf2 for almost 2 years , now i dont even know how i managed to play like that , i even could do rocket jumps halfway with a gamepad
but now i cant play without kb&m
