PERFECT Razer Surround EQ and Audio settings (still great in 2020)
Later edit: Still great in 2020

So i was playing around with the EQ, trying to find a good combination, and i think i found the perfect one. I'm using USB 7.1 Krakens.

These settings are great if you want a very clear and powerful sound:

- At the Audio tab enable Bass Boost and Voice Clarity.
- Set the Bass Boost to 80, leave the Presence Level in the middle and set the Volume Level somewhere around +15.

-Now the important part, the EQ tab
125Hz to +5
250Hz to +3
500Hz to -5
1kHz to -2
2kHz to +2
4kHz to +4
8kHz to +1
16kHz to +4

Should look like this: https://imgur.com/ggwvvoB

If you found the default preset as awful as I did, i reckon you'll like it :) Tell me what you think in the comments

Small footnote: If you feel like the "s" sounds are too loud or sharp, you can fix this by lowering the 4kHz slider in the EQ
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit:

Here's an alternative. It's definitely not as good as the first one, but some may like it:

This EQ has even more bass, but you'll have to sacrifice some treble for it. This is as smooth as it can get before becoming all distorted. You may be able to tinker a bit more with this one on different Razer headsets

- Audio tab:
-Disable Bass Boost (adding bass boost to this EQ just makes the sound muffled)
-Set the Sound Normalization to +10 (reduces the treble just the right amount so you won't get that ear-scratching feeling)
-Voice Clarity: Better not to touch the Presence Level,it makes the sound more robotic in some cases; the Volume Level can be set by preference - it affects how loud the voices are without affecting the quality of the bass and mids (as long as kept inbetween -15 and +15)

- EQ:
125Hz to +8
250Hz to +5
500Hz to 0
1kHz to 0
2kHz to +5
4kHz to 0
8kHz to -2
16kHz to 0

Test songs:
g-eazy- leviathan (rap,pop,progressive)
glue-Casin (vaporwave,chill)
caro emerald-stuck (electroswing,jazz)

*I am by no means a professional or anything, just a guy baffled by the horrible sound quality you get from the neutral preset on Razer headsets. Any feedback is appreciated:)

thanks man, helped me a lot here.
what about Synapse 3? ( there are 2 new EQ regulator)
This is honestly perfect, old thread but DAMN IT WORKS GOOD
Try out the classic or country one I dont remember and its super bassy
Tried the first group of settings with my Cowin E7 headphones and it sounds... AWESOME! Originally, I was just going to let the trial of the program expire before buying. However, after trying your settings yesterday, I decided to just go on and buy it.

Your legacy lives on. :-)

I'm sorry but I think this setup from OP sounds awful. It's absurdly bassy and ruins any kind of high end or clarity. Everything sounds overly bassy and horribly distorted. And that's with the Kraken headphones with the exact settings used here. Any form of simple clarity is lost, and it overpowers smaller minute sounds, making everything loud and pounding instead.

I understand some people want ALL the bass they can get, but it doesn't sound good that way. You need mids and highs in order to have an even remotely balanced sound. Also, the extra options in the "Audio" tab color the sound in a way that changes it from the original basic sound you might want or expect.

I don't think my setup is perfect, as I'd like to do a bit more tweaking but it represents a basic soundscape that feels more balanced overall while trying to color the sound as little as possible. I know some of you love that ridiculous THOOM sound constantly when using your headphones but it's goofy, and doesn't give accurate representations of the sound. Plus since these headphones are supposed to be used for non music content, I feel it's better to have a more balanced setup anyway.

Everything on the "Audio" tab is off. Volume is just a normal volume slider.

125 hz -3
250 hz -4
500 hz 0
1 khz +1
2 khz 0
4 khz +1
8 khz +2
16 khz +2

And obviously the lighting should be set to Spectrum Cycling because it's the coolest. :P

This is how I've been using these headphones. It gives WAY more clarity to the sound, while removing overly bassy aspects. When playing a game you'll hear the bass have a good thick boom during explosions or other big moments, while dialogue and singing remains nice and clear. The biggest thing though is that there isn't distortion in the sound no matter what is playing. This is also how I use these headphones when listening to music. I listen to heavy metal, so I'm sure personal preferences will be different for those of you who enjoy hip hop or rap, but even still, this will be much clearer while delivering nice punchy bass, yet keeping a good high end for those sounds that need it. I might do more tweaking with it, but I personally enjoy this setup.

Let me know what you think.

Here. Check out the audio with these settings. Notice how you get thick bass but also clear mids and highs. Even the low end has really decent clarity too. I think it might be a tad bit too bright, but overall, I'd say this is my preferred sound.

I don't think I need to say that you need to make sure to watch these in the highest quality you possibly can.

Oh my goodness! Thank you, you beautiful human. All of the bass saturated suggestions were driving me absolutely insane and I thought that it was just the unfortunate curse of the Razer Kraken headset. To each their own, but NO thank you. These settings sound as great as my favorite earbuds where I can hear everything crystal clearly. No overblown bass, tininess, echo, or any other frustrating sound issues. Best post. My ears and I can't thank you enough. ^_^

Hey thanks! I've had issues with that distorted bass before and I've always hated it. Distortion doesn't sound good, EVER, and the Kraken headphones are quite good overall, they just need a bit of tweaking to really punch the sound up a bit. Oh, if the high end is too shrill on some things, I'd suggest bringing the higher frequencies down a tad as well. I listen to some heavy metal, and some guitar solos are crazy on the high end of the spectrum, so sometimes I bring those last couple frequencies down a couple notches. Otherwise I'd say that general layout is the best I personally could make it sound and still try to keep a good and decently accurate style to the sound.

I wanted things to sound as close as possible to how they're supposed to sound normally, but still have great punchy sound without any distortion, especially when listening to music, watching videos or movies, or playing games. I will say that playing games with that sound setup and a game that supports the full surround soundscape is just an amazing experience. Explosions ring through and sound full and powerful and weighty but they all do it without blasting the sound out.

I'm glad you like it! :D
Boys and girls,
Im an experienced fps player and have played games such as Counter-Strike Source / 1.6 and GO. Also battlefield, valorant, pubg and others are on my list.
For me these settings are too faded and some sounds sound really disturbed.

These are the settings that worked the best for me after testing and searching for hours:

EQ SETTINGS:

31 Hz: 1
63 Hz: 3
125 Hz: 0
250 Hz: 0
500 Hz: 4
1 kHz: 4
2 kHz: 2
4 kHz: 2
8 kHz: 6
16 kHz: 4

ENHANCEMENT SETTINGS:

Bassboost off (if you like bass, turn this to 50 max but i HIGHLY recommend putting it to 25 if you really want that bass.

Sound Normalization off

Voice Clarity: off (makes things really snappy and sharp. Dont use this PLEASE XD)

REMINDER: In the end its all up to your opinion. For example: if youre not so sensitive to higher pitched sounds, put the 8 and 16 kHz slider higher. Also, if you like to have more bass and lower sound, turn the slider on 31 and 63 Hz up.

DEVICE: Razer Kraken (Kitty, yeah i know i bought this a joke)

If you like these settings, Let me know on my steam account.:steamthis:

I dunno, why do people keep needing to mess with EQ on an expensive headset? shouldn't need to do that since the input is already mixed.
if u want something really good for everyhting kinda, "i played around settings and this fitts me well so maybe u will like it "

so
31hz : 12
63hz : 7

The problem with this specific headset is that the soundstage it has out of the box is too bassy and doesn't have good clarity for all kinds of sounds. I did some adjustments and you can find my personal settings above, but I think what I did made it sound much clearer than before, with good sounding bass, and without having distortion.
BEST RAZER SYNAPSE EQ BY FAR

I got Blackshark V2 Pros last month and was so surprised the default Synapse EQs make the sound so much worse! I tried so many EQ settings from people online and THIS IS THE BEST BY FAR, ESPECIALLY FOR MUSIC.

Other people posting online should be ashamed of themselves, including those commenting in this thread claiming to know better. Everyone else online slightly tweaked the default settings and are so proud of themselves SMH! Go and see for yourself, everyone is doing +1, +2, -1 LOL LOL Chapae actually put in the time and energy to find an amazing balance!

This post by chapae needs to be the first shown in all Google searches related to Synapse EQ. Too many people are missing out. These settings make music sound euphoric with all genres I've tried. I recommend Stereo Mode in THX Spatial for music for WAY better sound quality. THX practically destroys audio.

THANK YOU CHAPAE. TAKE MY POINTS.
