In Generation II - the Generation which introduced Dark and Steel - there was not only a Steel-themed Gym Leader but a Dark-themed member of the Elite Four. Both in the games which introduced said types initially - Gold, Silver and Crystal.
If Game Freak has not yet introduced a Fairy-themed Gym Leader and to add insult to injury didn't consider doing so in the games which introduced the Fairy-type - X and Y - then I don't think it's beyond the pale to ask them why they're introducing yet another Electric-themed gym when that type is one of the go-to types for Gym Leaders to be themed around.
Granted, they've adopted a bit of a Bethesda mindset in that they seem keen on scrapping old systems and further streamlining the game instead of correcting errors that previous incarnations might've had with said systems. Doesn't help that they're also more inclined to making the game less complex and more basic.
But then again that seems to be the modus operandi of corporate game developers and publishers at this point - making everything as basic as possible as to appeal to the widest demographic. Never mind that by trying to appeal to everyone you inevitably appeal to no one.
Covetous money worshipers, I swear.
No idea what a bethesda mindset is, first time I hear that word
Steel type moves are not rly that overused as coverage that much v:
Other weaknesses and other threats for said Pokémon also exist so it depends on the Pokémon
Kinda disappointed that we got an electric gym leader instead of an Elite Four member though. My favorite type never made it to the big leagues.
imo dark and bug type never have a reason to be in the elite 4. They're too weak a type.
Well, in gen 9 everyone can change types v:
Or just use grassy terrain v:
Offensively both are bad (specially bug) v:
But defensively they are not that bad

I prefer Ash to stay the way it is honestly
I want ash to grow up, so we can get someone new. I'd rather a female trainer as the star of pokemon for a while. Like may or dawn or something.
Ash is soooo bland...
Give me a pokemon where the main character's pokemon is sylveon.
This could genuinely happen if Nintendo would make a third sequel to Colosseum already, those games have you start with Eeveelutions.
