Is it a good idea to post a rl image of your actual self in your profile? Whats the worst that can happen? And no, my current avi isn't actually me

You better not do it.
Doing so you will become a stalkers' magnet.

Already did that. nothing really happens except maybe some compliments or so.
It's not really 'uncommon'. Enough people do that I suppose. And I cannot think of anything bad actually happening.

Worst case senario? You'll be followed by a lot of stalkers and the like. Never a good thing. Also, you might get some people who'll think that your "real life image" isn't, in fact, yourself. But that's based off of the whole, "Oh, anyone can google a picture of a girl and say that they are one" argument.

Do what you will OP. Choice is yours.

Thats how people learn your 'power word'

If the EXIF data is still in the picture, it could also contain the GPS coordinates from your phone at the moment the picture was taken, revealing your location. Image search could probably track you down to facebook with the end result people will know your full name, address, occupation and so on.

Worst case scenario would be to get swatted and someone dying in the chaos.

Good thing i'm a man then. Also, that does not happen as often as you'd think. But hey, if that's your opinion then fine; just don't give the OP any false ideas.

Thats what i meant by people learning your power word (real name)

Its called a power word since it ends all arguments with that person and makes them DELETE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ EVERYTHING!

Nothing really. It's no more of a risk than putting your real pictures on social media. I've used pictures of myself in the past. It's still easy to find what I look like because I link to my social media. Basically bad things aren't that common. The weirdest thing I've ever had happen was some guy in the UK told all his friends he was dating me and used my pictures to show them.

Edit: I found my boyfriend through Steam by using a picture of me. I regret nothing.

Reverse image search, find you on social media and go from there? If thats even possible :b You wont get any strangers knocking on your door or anything like that :pug:

How is it having a boyfriend that never uses a toilet?

From my observations, women are targeted much more often then men. Regardless, that's the risk you take if you want to use an image of yourself on the internet.

You get some creeps, some stalker, potential boyfriend. .. Someone might find you pretty enough to impersonate you.. Yada Yada..

If you've used social media, then using it on steam isn't really any different.
