Should I join the Marines?
A Marine recruiter came by my school yesterday (recruiters for all branches come in during lunch) and I was just considering the idea of joining the armed forces again. It will be difficult, but I think it would help me with disipline and paying for college.

What do you guys think?

There is no doubt that the US military offers benefits to those who are strong enough to take advantage of them.

However, if you are weak, stupid, prone to feelings of guilt it could end up wrecking your life. If you are unlucky, it could end up ending your life (or making you wish it ended).

As for the notion of 'policing the world', that is propaganda. We don't police the world, we dominate it! Just like the British empire, the Roman empire, and the Persian empire before us. We are not all over the world with our military to police others, but to keep them in check so the corporations can exploit them.

One would argue that this is immoral. From one stand point it is. However, the only stand point that matters is REALITY. The reality is this, if not the USA then it would be someone else. They would do the same...or worse. It is the way of the human race.

Chew on this, every empire falls. The wealthy elite always move their wealth out of the empire that is crumbling and into the next big power. When Spain ruled the world, all the bankers of Europe were behind the Spanish crown. Slowly, they moved into England, Spain fell. They did the same, moved from England into the USA. Today, we see the USA in debt. The rich are moving their money off-shore. Investing heavy in China and other parts of the world.

For those foreigners who have an irrational hate of the USA, all the data shows we are on our way down. The power is slowly transfering to other places. The irony is this, the day may come when you will miss the gentle hand of American domination...whoever comes next will most likely be much worse.

They're not going to tell you the truth though. Neither will the mainstream media.

You'll get free college courses if you join the Army.

All military corps are strict and you'll come out of it hardened, both inside and out. There are many forts around me and I hear the sounds of our war machines flying overhead all day, every now and then convoys will pass through my town.

I come from a family of military, Navy, Marines, Air-force and even Army. I've even heard most of their stories.

Understand that this will be a tough choice, you may have to go to war, and it will be uncertain if you step foot on American soil once more, come home in a casket or carry a Purple Heart the rest of your life.

In the end, the choice of joining is always up to you, even with all the negatives I still view it as a positive vocation, I would be in the military myself if I wasn't barred to my current occupation.

You wish to beocme a Marine?

You very well might. The conviction of your beliefs, the intiative you have shown in your planning, the implied intelligence, you very well may bexomce one of us.

Ignore the rest of those naysaying sods and their political garbage, it is just that. Marines are an extension of diplomacy, not diplomacy itself. Even the most benevolent liars will send you in to further their agendas.

When you're holding the weapon, when you have the chance to understand true power, you will see what they were alwys on about. The question is, do you have the integrity, as a servant of the people, a servant of the Consitiution, to retain and speak your own mind? How can you defend individuals if you do not appreciate that?

I think you have that capabilty, after years of observation. You are young, yet, but with proper guidance you may yet serve as one worthy of the title. Semper Fidelis. Our way of life is always believing, always having faith, that we serve those most are capable of govenring themselves via the Constituion we swore to, are those most capable of making greater prgress in this world. WIthout them, we'd be the brutes we used to be. Civilization never would have advanced.

If you can believe that, if you can prove it through your wilingness to fight, even over the small matters these cilivains come up with, and conduct yourself with integrity in those wars, you might be considered as one of us.

If you can hold to it, even under the pressrres of war, you really are the best of us. This world is hurting, but it's nothing a really good knight can't fix.

If you think so, then do it. But the marines or any army branch isn't for me.

@Grey Angel,

It's not an excuse, it is a reality.

We should all enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm in full agreement, what you see on the news is partial truth that is distorted for the purpose of manipulating the ignorant.

So what is your point?

Information has always been controlled, manipulated, and used as a tool of the ruling class.

Halliburton has enough contractors.

I agree.

Ever wonder why the US gov. has privatized the military? It's insidious.
