Dented violin fix?
i have a violin and have recently made a dent in it on accident near the fingerboard. the dent made a straight crack on it that's is like an inch long... it looks untouched from a distance but as me being the player, its all that i ever see now. i want to keep my violin looking good and new without any dents, so if this is fixable please let me know...

I would take it to your local luthier. Don't do anything yourself.

Or, if you don't know what that is, your local instrument store and have them direct you to a craftsman who can repair musical instruments. And anything you try to do yourself is going to weaken the instrument and effect the sound.

Surely you bring the violin somewhere else to get the bow rehaired, bridge adjusted, sound post moved, etc? Take it to that person and ask what they can do.

And don't be surprised if it's cheaper to buy a new one than to have a minor dent/crack fixed by a craftsman.

In over 10 years of playing the violin I've never once harmed mine, sounds like bad luck m8, do what they suggested above, take it to your local violin shop if you have one and have them fix it for you, my violin is over $4000 and I would never even think of attempting to fix something as bad as a dent where you put your finger strength on by myself

Not if you have a warranty. I've bad a warranty in my sax for countless years, only ever dented it once.

Depends on the violin. For a training violin that's basically < $500, maybe. For $10000+? No, you want to repair that.

Well ok thanks for the help, i will email my creators/shop where my violin came from and see what they can do... cause it can't be that bad, the person i know is a proffessional and his store is in chicago... how would i send my violin over there though??? i can live with the dented crack but i mean come on this thing is 5000$... i would like to keep it in the best form and if i have to live with it then alright, its gonna take some getting used to.

I know. I was assuming a cheap low wage country made training violin because someone who's on his fifth one and in the $10000+ category, wouldn't be asking this question here. But turns out I was wrong.

Fun to watch but wouldn't that be a waste of the guitar? ;)
