Are video games becoming less popular
I feel like video game popularity is hitting a low recently, probably not indefinitely, most likely not infact, but definitely recently it seems like games are slowing down, I guess because there haven't really been any good game releases recently, that could be the reason, I'm just asking if you guys have noticed the same thing

AAA games do seem to be waning in popularity. Devs have gotten complacent, the market has gotten stale. To many gamers it's always the same old modern FPS formula, with very little new substance being added each year.
Very true. A growing number of gamers aren't buying into the overhype pre-order nonsense anymore. The whole triple A industry is in peril, and that's a good thing.

Games will hopefully become less corporate, but it could mean we sacrifice graphics and smooth physics for better story and gameplay, maybe it will balance out at one point

My point exactly. As much as I hate to admit it, games like Undertale and Rocket League, not Black Ops 3 or Fallout 4, defined 2015. The one exception was The Witcher 3, and even then CD Projekt isn't nearly as big as Activision or Bethesda.

If that is the future of gaming I can live with it. Gameplay and writing should always take priority over impressive graphics and sound effects.

Hmm...

I thought CD Projekt Red had a bigger staff compared to Bethesda Game Studios.I think BGS had around 100 employees and CD Projekt Red had twice the amount.

We’re still a scrappy team. We’re just over 100 people – not nearly as big as some of the other studios."

" A total of 240 in-house staff worked on The Witcher 3 (most were Polish, but a "considerable" number were foreigners), while 1,500 people in all around the world were involved in the game's production."

Actually it seems like I was mistaken. I just checked and CD project does indeed have 2x the number of employees BGS has.
