Who else thinks that music from 60s-80s is better than modern music?
Idk why, I just think this. I wasn't born anywhere near that time period, but I just think that a lot of modern music is trash. Idk

learning to play music from the 60s-80s could benefit a lot of modern artists, an insane amount of popular music has been written in C E G based around the idea of a hook, because most peoples attention spans are around 3 seconds, a lot of music is created as a product to make money so that is why so many people have used the same boring proven method, but creating art requires a deeper understanding of all types of music, past and present and is not always about giving people what they want or making quick cash, i see the same thing happening with video games. it is a strange world, creating traps to catch this animal, but then also teaching it how not to get caught by traps.

I disagree. Looking back at classic music, we have the benefit of having it all curated for us, so that we only ever hear the very best handful of songs from a particular year. But when we look at modern music, we have to wade through all the ♥♥♥♥ and mediocrity along with the good, because it's all new and the greats have yet to stand the test of time. Also, recording and publishing an album is a lot cheaper and easier now, so there are a lot of albums coming out now that would never have seen the light of day 35 years ago.

60s was meh, good early funk/blues stuff, 70s was revolutionary but I don't like a lot of the bands here. 80s was alright Punk rock started to become an American thing. 90s was the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ best, Soundgarden, Tool, Helmet, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, NIN, Alice in Chains.

I agree, love music from the 70s and 80s, especially the progressive rock from that era (Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Todd Rundgren, etc)

There are some great modern artists in music (Andrew W.K., Lindsey Stirling, Walk the Moon, The Protomen) but they're usually buried under the no-talent garbage that the mainstream media keeps forcing down our throats (Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Beyonce...)

Because it was more easy to get fame through raw talent.
