OK, it's hard to know what's a real thing when all I see that relates to it is memes

Even before the memes MLG was more well known for the wannabe kids who wanted to be MLG or said that they were MLG.

MLG is a real thing but its mostly just a meme league....although its pretty big....in reality each individual game that has a competitive element has their own competitive scene....so its on a game by game basis....

MLG as an internet culture is more meme, but high level competitive leagues for games are most certainly a thing, Eleague just finished up last week in fact, if you don't know what that is, it was a 1.5 million dollar tournament TBS was broadcasting over this summer for counterstrike, ESL One Cologne just finished up last month and that is one of the biggest annual counterstrike pro scene competitive tournaments, that one was in the neighborhood of a million too I believe, and it's most certainly not just counter strike either, it ranges a very high number of games (pretty much all of them) but very few of them are successful, it's probably a good thing or Esports would be way too saturated of an industry, only the entertaining and skill driven ones strive and achieve millions of viewer audiences, it's a massive thing and normally it's referred to as "Esports" not "MLG" mlg is the more meme version of it, the internet pop cultured version, hope this helped, but you could always just google it next time

Actually MLG is a specific brand of "Esports" ..............old one @ that...web run leagues and tourneys etc....so its a company really....been around forever....but its mostly known because of the meme.

I'm fully aware of that but if you look at their viewership and charts for the last 2 years you'll see why I didn't even find the need to mention them anymore, the meme culture around MLG is bigger then the corporation itself
