How could it take 81,000 years to get to Proxima Centauri?
Hello folks, Ive been doing some research, and after looking, it says that the star system is 4.23 light years away from us, which is a far distance, but

lets say, the speed of a vessel was 28,968 m/s, which is easily achievable by NASA standards

A light year is how far light travels in a second (300,000 m/s)

after calculations, a year, this is 9.4608e+12

300,000 divided 28,968 = 10.3562551781

It would take just over 10 times the time to reach the distance light travels in a second

so if the speed of light gets there in 4.23 years

If we multiply 4.23 by 10.3562551781 = 43.806959403363

Would it not take just over 43 years to get there?

(P.S. I am a Noob at astrology, so im sure im partially if not entirely wrong with my calculations, and im sure you could correct me on so :3 )

Exo suit?

K means if ytou sent them directly to the star, not the system of the same name. Another intriguing possibility for our future as a species, Reality TV starring celebrities.
Let's send Hillary Clinton.

Let's send Hillary Clinton.
Yes. But we should send her to our sun so we wont have to wait so long unitil she dies.

so I cant even fail at maths without religion and politics being involved

You are a noob. It has nothing to do with astronomy, however. And everything to to with a fundamental misunderstanding of how the universe functions. The fastest man has ever gone is 24,794 mph. NASA can NOT achieve 28,068 miles per second. And they only achieved the fastest speed on reentry from orbit.

At the fastest speed man has ever achieved, traveling 24,872,4000,000,000 miles would take 114,516 years.

I meant 28,968 METRES per second (m/s = metres per second)

astrology is the study of the stars on our behaviour, i think you meant astronomy and also astropyhsics, we are developing a new technology called light sails take a look at that, also within 50 years nanotechnology should give us the capability to create base atoms and therefore water itself which means we could easily colonise mars and later possibly terraform other planets, we don't really need to go that far for now, also if they are more advanced than us and the best they can send is umanned UFOS that means they are attempting to contact us already, but as human beings we are not getting the message or it is quite possibly being covered up from us, it is indeed strange that many are in a race for power and the rush to create dynastyies in our current world, maybe the aliens message was that only the elite of us will be spared and only the few know this, but if the aliens are just more elitist scum ♥♥♥♥ them i would rather die with my dignity and compassion intact, if your destiny is nothing but war you will not like that which you find unless you are a psychopath and maybe the universe elite is populated by psychopaths and in that case most of us would be better of dead, unless the bastards also have a way of controlling death and in that case we are just slaves. either way if you have a heart you are most likely screwed as compassion 9/10 times loses to war.
how do you know that if there is aliens that they are more advanced. what if every other alien species is more primitive? after all if they can travel here there is no reason for them to keep us alive, unless they are forced to by a intergalactic version of the UN or something. seems unlikely, but still interesting thing to think through. if that was the case, then we could soon be in the same position as the Europeans back in the 1500's.

Which translate to nearly 29 kilometers a second, which translates to 104,400 kph, or 64,728 miles an hour, 3 times faster than anything man has achieved. Which does get you a 43. 43,865 years. You deleted a few numbers their chief.
It's crazy how far we've gone despite how neutered the space program is.

If even just 10% of the resources spent on the US military was diverted to NASA, we would be colonizing other planets by now.

But ♥♥♥♥ that.

Why? wouldn't you be able to conquer Earth, after conquering space. for example, build gigantic military space station and start bombarding from space..
