Signs of an intelligent catfish?
Not all people who pretend to be others online are distant or use pictures that can be easily traced back.

This person used pictures of a real person that were not able to be traced back by Google images. Usually people say do this trick to weed out catfishes, but it just didn't work on this one. The only way I found out was that they came clean. They had told me they'd been doing it for 5 years, and that they were so surprised no one suspected anything. The character he portrayed was too bad to be a lie, the catfish showed true insecurities that females face. The guy who pretended to be this girl knew the female psyche so well it was like he was truly female, the faint motherly instinct, the emotional manipulation, he even scheduled exactly when he was to act like he was on his period. Either he was a gynecologist or he lived with women and examined a lot. He never really acted romantically and he said that his catfishing was a "joke that went too far" and that he was "consumed by his own creation."

I just want to know if any other Steam users had dealt with a very calculating and too-bad-to-be-a-lie catfishes?

Catfishing.. sigh... you have to either want to be catfish'd or not be a smart person to fall for it. Just sayin... be yourself, ~staygold~
Try getting them to take a picture holding up a piece of paper with a specific phrase/symbol on it. That'll do the trick.

It's not that hard to catfish people, sadly.

Got catfished by my "GF" of one year I met here. After I found out who was the girl that she or he was pretending to be, I let her know, then confronted the person she or he immediatly blocked me. changed his her name (I still have the link) and I do not know If this is an offence Steam would like to pursue, I mean she or he did really scam me for like 1000 bucks in steam gifts.

If my girlfriend is a catfish she is definitely doing it wrong. I got like 6 games from her and i only bought one.

This thread..... Is not what I thought it would be from the title. I am disappointed.

On topic though, I'd have to say... *Shrug* Maybe I have and I just don't know it, but I just don't care enough to feel any form of "hurt" or "tricked" from a so-called, "catfish."
