Cell shaded and looks effin great.
In Telltale's case, I'd say it's laziness. They always give their games a cell-shaded "art-style" even though the art design doesn't fit any of their games' atmospheres (except Borderlands). Given how much money Telltale has accumulated, I'm surprised the haven't splurged and bought a lisence to a better game engine.
I kinda like Telltale's design, because when I usually see that style, it reminds me of them. Also it worked with the wolf among us, since it was a comic like the walking dead.
So it does work.
