It has a glorious story behind it.

In Warframe, one of the enemy factions (Grineer, Corpus, Infested) may invade another one's areas, during that time one can choose to play an invasion mission and support either Grineer or Corpus against their opponent for rewards. If the Infested invade a boss mission, the player will face Phorid.

During one of those missions, a Warframe player noticed a Prod Crewman (just a basic Corpus grunt with a baton) going against Phorid and surviving the encounter. Stories of his bravery were shared and as time passed his accomplishments grew in number. He would ultimately be named John Prodman.

Digital Extremes canonized him and made him an opponent in an Vs. AI arena gamemode called Index, in which one makes an credit investment and then faces various Brokers (Corpus elites), fighting for credits. John Prodman will appear after one hour of increasingly difficult continuous fighting, and if defeated, drops an autographed poster you may present on your ship.

And I found myself rather pleased to find Prodman turned into an emoticon during Steam Winter Sale 2018.

Probably. I can't quite figure out what that emoticon is supposed to convey. Does it mean the person is simply feeling cold?
