Is taping the webcam really worth it

I’ve only gotten in to taping it once recently, but I didn’t want to get anymore tape since I never taped up a webcam on a laptop I’m confident has no viruses or malware, i usually cover up the webcam on older laptops when I’m installing something, or will actually tape up the webcam when planning to use that old laptop for things that require both hands

I taped a loop/sleeve of cardboard to my laptop and had a second piece of cardboard as a slider. As long as it closes properly and can't get knocked off go with that.
As far as I know, there's no hardware hack to stop the microphone from being turned on and hearing you.

Try Anti Spy for phones, etc....

Anti Spy blocks microphone and camera. Kinda creepy how many of those mobile phone games try to take your picture when you are playing.

Yes, and I even disabled the Webcam via BIOS.

If I need a webcam, I manually plugin my Logitech HD one..

I took some of my wife's nail paint and painted over my web cam on my laptop and on my phone's front camera.

thankfully my laptop has no webcam and my external webcam has a privacy cover, but i don't keep my camera plugged in, i rarely use it, its just for video conferences.

Disabling the webcam is the best thing to do yeah. Always use external plug in cameras so when you don't need it its not plugged it.
