How do you pronounce Doge?

Seriously, this has been driving me crazy.

For the longest time I thought it was pronounced as "dohj", but my friend is insisting it's pronounced as "Doggy".

A quick search revealed nothing but different pronunciations for it. So I ask the ultimate question, how do you pronounce doge?

There is no evidence of any pronunciation other than "dohj" in the history of this meme.
