The United States is only good at sports they have created:
-Basketball
-American Football
-Baseball
-Nascar
-The XGames
-Skateboarding

Rugby and Futbol are both sports not created by Americans and they suck majorly at them. So as long "video gaming as sport" is created by the United States and there are a few idiots who waste their time being better than other's at it, then yes sadly video gaming is a sport.

Show me an example. Something I would find broadcasted on the television. Then I may consider it a sport. Tell me how physical it all is. How much action and movement is involved.

So you want an example of a "weak sport" that only involves moving the fingers and hands?

Okay then, off the top of my head.

Darts, Archery, Fishing, Snooker, Pool, Everything involving Horses, Everything involving Cars.

If you want to expand it to include "sports that don't involve a whole lot of body movement" im sure we can add a lot more.

Well that's not true, some Americans can be very good at foriegn sports!

Not to say I'm proud of that fact. I live in a place were American Football is EXTREMELY popular, and to be honest... it's like living in hell.

America has been historically pretty good at swimming, snowboarding, shooting and golf too.

What is weak about any of that? Archery is dangerous and requires good arm strength, Pool is a swimming sport and requires every muscle in the body (Unless you mean the ball game, which I never think of as more a competitive game then a sport... BUT, I can see where it could be -considered- a sport. It can drone on and on and wear down and be quite tenuous late on), Horses are very dangerous and exhausting things to ride, and cars are also difficult to do as they heat up, move fast, and practically transfer all momentum into you.

I have no idea what snooker is... and I don't think darts are a sport... by anyones standards. I've never seen darts be considered sport, unless you mean long darts (Javelins)... which also uses physical movement and calculation and, like so many things before, you can get very hurt doing.

Now, Actually READING my question to you,

Show me a Video-Game sport that is publicly sent out and is physical and is all competitive and meets all the other things I had said.

Single individual people maybe. But overall no, American's suck at sports they didn't invent.

I gotta disagree with you (Eaten) on snowboarding though, some teams are really good at that... Not like the Nords. but still very good.

Not really. All modern bows today and the ♥♥♥♥ they use in the olympics are compound bows so there is very little draw on the bow. If the olympics made people use recurve bows like our ancestors then no one would compete.

That's true, but the only reason snowboarding is a "sport" is because American's made it one and popularized it via the X-Games.

For shame, for shame. What a disaster that is.

In defense, compound bows are easier and far safer. Recurve bows could require 50 lbs of pull.

Still, I do think it takes away from the art of the act.

USA has won more medals for swimming (men) than the second, third, fourth and fifth nations combined.

You'll find that America has done very well in the other sports too, there's a reason why they are so far ahead in the Gold Medals ranking in the Olympics.

Eaten is right, longbowmen were probably the strongest men in any Medieval army. Years of training with their bows even deformed their spines, that's how historians could work out what role the skeleton of a Medieval took in life.

a) Population. The reason the U.S. takes so much more gold in general is because we have a large country and contribute far more atheletes than most countries.

b) Economy and business. The U.S. is pretty successfull and sports makes a lot of money so it's far easier for people in the U.S. to be full time athletes than other countries like Russia and China. The United States has sponsors and top of the line training (aka spend more on their athletes) than China or Russia do so thus we can put out better and-with the first point-more athletes.
