Why are Stephen King movies so amazing ?
Yeah, basically what title says, all of the movie adaptations are just amazing, i just watch The Shining for the first time an hour ago, and 2 days ago i saw Stand by Me, Both AMAZING. Also a few years ago i saw the Shawshank Redemption and The Mist, Shawkshank being my favorite movie of all time.

Also if anyone recommends any i would be willing to watch any that are recommended
I think most of his movies are crap. The books are fine. The movies are usually poorly done. Stanley Kubrick made The Shining his own and better which angered Stephen King. King's mini-series version was cheesy and not scary, but still fun to watch. Some things don't adapt from book to film well.

some favs

Misery
Pet Sematary
The Shining
The Shining mini-series
Dreamcatcher
The Green Mile
Maximum Overdrive
The Running Man
1408
The Shawshank Redemption
finnally a stephen king thread!!! the reason why stephen king movies are so amazing is becuase stephen king is just so awesome!!! I mean he wrote like at least two dozen novels and damn near all of them are just damn good. <am i going on a stephen king rant again? yeah i think i am> People just don't understand how awsome King is I mean he overcame poverty, drug abuse, and being raised by a single parent <fun little game: count the stephen king protagonists that were raised without or with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ father figgures> he was aposed to blaming video games on mass shootings, he wrote a calander with 12 little stories about a werewolf on it and that calander got turned into a movie. HE WROTE A CALANDER THAT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE! A CALANDER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!!! and did i already talk about how almost all the king stories are in this one intereconneted universe just like the marvel movies so Anne Wilkes, Andy Dufrense, Pennywise the Dancing Clown, The Overlook Hotel, and the town of Castle Rock are all in the same universe!!!

Recommendations: first hand accounts: It, Carrie (old 1970s one), storm of the century, Silver Bullet (based off calander)
heard good praise: The Stand (miniseries), Green Mile, The Dead Zone, Misery

The Deus Ex Machina ending of The Stand bears mention. I can't tell you how aggravated it made me to read 1300 pages of novel only to have the characters reach the end for their final confrontation, only to have the literal Hand of God come down to blow up an atom bomb! I mean, seriously? Why in the world did any of those people have to go through any of that stuff if that's what you were going to do at the end, anyway?

This a thousand times over. It was a cop-out to employ an almost literal God from the machine ending, just short of "he woke up and it was all a dream".

That said, there was some really good performances from the TV adaptation, (the guy who played Randall Flagg for instance).
