Games that fit on a flash drive?
I just started a new job, and there's quite a bit of downtime at my desk. I'm allowed to entertain myself in any reasonable manner. Any suggestions for games that can be run from a flash drive on a crappy work laptop? I've already got Nethack, HOMM3, and Battle for Wesnoth.

I get paid hourly. Have to be there for eight hours, even if I'm not working.

16gb drive.

Half life

You can actually run these games without the PortableApps.com Platform, but it's a nice thing to have.

Pretty much anything made before 2010 should suit your needs. What kind of flash drive are we talking about, here?

I'm not sure if Steam is an option, so here are my recommendations:
  • Beyond Good and Evil (free on uPlay starting Oct 14, once The Crew is gone)
  • Deus Ex GotY (approx 745 MB)

  • Star Wars: Jedi Knight, ESPECIALLY Jedi Academy
  • Max Payne 1 (approx. 1 GB)
  • Red Faction (approx. 2.1 GB)
  • Star Wars: Dark Forces (70 MB)
  • Half-Life (approx. 780 MB, 2 GB with all other GoldSrc games)

  • X-COM: UFO Defense (16 MB, 70 MB with the fantastic OpenXCom mod)
  • Rollercoaster Tycoon (if you have a CD key... or Steam) (approx. 820 MB)
  • Dungeon Keeper (free on Origin right now!)
  • SimCity 3000 Unlimited (approx. 270 MB)

  • Prison Architect (approx. 350 MB)
  • Rimworld (approx. 310 MB)

  • Enter the Gungeon (approx 1.1 GB)
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection (approx. 400 MB)

  • Tomb Raider 1 (approx. 305 MB)
  • Tomb Raider 2 (approx. 335 MB)
  • Tomb Raider 3 (approx. 470 MB)

If you need more space for games, your average 64 GB SanDisk flash drive these days will go for about $15. Something else you need to consider is that you want games that load quickly-- USB 2 is a slow transfer rate and games with frequent load-walls will chip away at your sanity quickly.

Get Halo Wars, it's a free Halo 3 basically. Battlefield 2 also is free and has a large community online. I have a crappy mac too and I usually play these games.

Hm, you've all given me a lot to look into. Thanks!
