Best guitar distortion pedal?

I've been using the Behringer ULTRA METAL UM300 for a while now, but after doing some research, I've found that this pedal is pretty low end... What are some good heavy sounding distortion pedals? By the way, I play a lot of heavier metal like death core and such.

What I personally use is the AXE-FX II (Fractal Audio System) with an Atomic Active CTR...
This is expensive, but by far the best quality guitar effects I've come across.

I couple that with a ESP M-II NECK THRU guitar, the best heavy metal/rock/shred guitar I've ever played and can't put down.

Use Ernie Ball Cobalt strings.

Guitar audio quality isn't just a single component, but rather all working together... pickups > effects > amp.

The rest is in the hands, using correct palm muting under heavy distortion and finger to keep it clean, etc.

Troy Stetina books - I found teached this the best for me.

I have a pretty simple setup... I've got a Peavey Valve King 112 and my guitar is a schecter diamond series damien platinum 6 FR. I really just want a pedal (or how ever many I need) that I can just plug in and start playing. I'm not too familiar with pedals as you may have found out lol... I just want a HEAVY ass sound. My favorite things to play are fast single note riffing (like lamb of god)

Boss Audio DS1 Guitar Pedal (or Metal Zone) + Ibanez Tube Screamer

It will turns your axe into overdrive and have it crying/screaming with some distortion when needed.

You're best option if possible is actually go off to a guitar store and try them out yourself. Get a similar guitar and amp to use, etc. Or at least have a return option available.

i have no band so i'm using a guitar rig 4 mutli pedal, running it as a plugin through fruity loops 9 over drum and bass sections i made, get a nice chunky mid sound.

I haven't personally used/tested that one. However, I believe it has true bypass which is a plus to look for if having in an effects loop (and you want to turn it off at times within signal quality lost). Should get that distortion, with dynamics and clean. Fat bass. It's a transparent pedal, so you won't lose your own guitar tone behind it (depending if that's good or not).
