I ♥♥♥♥ing hate Youtube's recommendation system.

I watched 5 seconds of a video on Sports, which was barely even related to sports, and now Youtube is like "OMG HE LOVES SPORTS RECOMMEND HIM EVERYTHING INVOLVING SPORTS!!!"

Stop shoving ♥♥♥♥ down my throat.

Not to mention, I'm apparently interested in Jay-Z, even though I've NEVER watched a video involving him.

Oh, there was one time I accidentally clicked on a video involving MLP when I meant to click on a video above it, and immediately closed out, and then for the next few days it recommended nothing but MLP to me, even when I clicked the "Not interested" button.

What ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t has Youtube recommended to you for no reason?

It's based on the concept that people who've seen that sports video also watched ______. It's a minor irritant, nothing more.

If you watch less than a certain amount of the video, it means you're disinterested, and that means it shouldn't recommend more videos of that kind to you.

Maybe. But as I said, it's just a minor irritant; most of the time I just ignore the "recommend videos" and just use the search bar.

The people that know me well also know of my viewing habits. I don't really care what people think of me based on what I like to watch on Youtube. If you know of a more efficient and sophisticated recommendation system, go tell Youtube. Otherwise, you're getting upset over nothing.

All I can infer from this is your desire to watch MLP and Jay-Z mash-up vids. But that isn't anything I care about. Just go clear your watch history HERE https://www.youtube.com/feed/history then wait 15 minutes. Or create and log into your own Youtube account, watch whatever you want, then log out. Then just do what people have been doing since the beginning of the internet. Clearing their browser history.

Sony's PS4 game reccomendations are far worse. IT constantly tells me to buy Driveclub and ratche & Clank even though I own them digitally so it is tied to their account things.

Yeah I hate the recommendations too... once I looked up 'worst youtuber ever', then it kept recommending me 'LeafyIsNoChin'.

Figured out a way to correct it's behaviour:

Go under 'History', then under both tabs 'Watch History' and 'Search History', either clean out the lot or trim it down removing what you didn't like to actually watch.

Click back to 'Home' and you will notice the recommended list is much more accurate to what you actually perfer.

Then on additional hated video, look for the three dots next to them (right side of the title when you hover over them). Click that, then 'Not Interested' and provide the reason(s). You dislike that youtuber or topic, or you don't want recommendations based on such and such.

Note: You need to do both, as after you played a video, there a follow up recommended list too. They didn't make it so you can say no to them - that's just based off history related suggestion.
