The most overrated game franchise is undoubtedly the Mario series. Whether it be the original Super Mario Bros. games or the more recent Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. titles, the franchise has been milked for all it's worth and then some. The Mario games are some of the most popular and well-known video games ever created, but that doesn't mean they're actually good. In fact, a lot of the games in the series are downright terrible.

The original Super Mario Bros. games are portly overrated. Yes, they were revolutionary for their time and yes, they are considered classic video games. But that doesn't excuse the fact that they're slow, repetitive, and extremely easy. The graphics haven't aged well either, looking like something you'd expect to see on an Atari 2600 rather than a Nintendo Entertainment System.

Super Mario Bros. 3 is often hailed as the best game in the entire series, but it's really not that great. It's an improvement over the first two games, but it's still plagued by many of the same problems. The level design is often tedious and uninspired, the difficulty is all over the place, and the game is just too short.

The Super Mario World games are some of the most overrated games ever made. The first game is decent, but it's the sequel, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, that's the real stinker. The game is an uninspired mess, with controls that are needlessly complicated, atrocious level design, and a story that makes absolutely no sense.

Yeah. The Witcher 3 was the game that cemented the fact that I should just ignore people's opinions and focus on making my own regardless of what others think of it.

Seems like I just see things differently from the whole rest of the Internet.

It's like the whole rest of the Internet grades based on "what did this do wrong, and if it's nothing, it was perfect" but I look at it more like "what did this do well, and if it's nothing, then it sucked."

As a result, there are all these OMGISSPERFEK games and movies and stuff that I'm just like... eh. But then there are also a lot of WORSTTHINGEVAAAAAAR games and movies and stuff that I really liked.

Yeah. I've been repeatedly told to never play games like Dark Souls 2 or Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Only for me to absolutely love them to the point I played them for hundreds of hours.

So yeah, the only opinion that I care about is the one I make from doing proper research and trying the games for myself.
