Whataboutism is literally a waste of time. It's meant to wear down the opponent by constantly diverting to something else. That is a lazy strategy. Always has been.

Indeed. But as a liberal who strongly believe in individual responsability, I'll don't let socialists get away with their attempt to discharge themselves of dark Historical events. I'll force them to recognize that they've make huge mistakes back then, as it gonna push them to become better persons instead of fleeing reality like cowards.

The thing that piss me off is when they pretend that the soviets weren't "real communists" or that kind of thing. Be adults and face reality, USSR was the practical consequence of the communist ideology. If you refuse to learn from these mistakes, you're doomed to repeat them. And communism is a thing I really don't want to be replicated ... I see tactics like "cancel culture" as a "first step to gulag" kind of event. I'll never gonna accept that, let the peoples talk, even if you don't agree with them.

I think people are taught that Communism and Socialism are the same thing. In reality, most “democratic” countries are as Communist as they come and fear and hate Socialism for all the same reasons the Soviets did.

When a group of people decides to take care of one another and value the preservation of individuals over the state that’s Socialism. Like school lunches.

When a state decides that certain types of people ought to be more or less priveleged based on economic factors they consider ironclad, that’s Communism. Like when Russia shut down its welfare programs.
