If it wasn't a meme before, it now is!
https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/sandy-hook-families-seek-2-75-trillion-from-alex-jones-1.1836028

Basically, Sandy Hook families want to keep suing Alex Jones, now for damages possibly up to worth a third of the U.S. total outlays from the 2021 fiscal year[en.wikipedia.org]
Even most countries could only dream of such budgets.

What's up with that?

Is this America?

What do you think?

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence.
So you were okay with what happened to The Dixie Chicks?
Agreeing or disagreeing with the consequences is a different subject. The Dixie Chicks knew what their audience were. They knew it would harm them but they did the right thing anyway.

You failed to mention that he actually gave out the addresses and phone numbers of the Sandyhook parents. Told his listeners to go to their houses, places of work, spam call them, basically terrorize them.
Did not actually know that part. I try to avoid knowing too much about him.
That's because it didn't happen. People makeup stories about him.

Whichever stupid liberal judge fined him 1 billion dollars opened the door to this level of absurdity.
It was a jury, put together by both the prosecution and defense. but nice try. :steammocking:

It was a kangaroo court. They didn't actually let Alex Jones defend himself. They simply ruled that he was holding back evidence without proof and ruled that he didn't get the ability to defend himself.

Personally if that's the way the game is going to be played, I think we should start suing the crap out of everyone, and just ensure that we have a court system that's willing to convict based on mob mentality.

i was with them for the first couple million since it happened with kyle when he sued all media outlets for slandering

But the amount is just absurd at this point.

Also it's just literally 1 dude. How much can they actually get out of it vs again say mega corporation media outlets?

reminds me of how Kanye West donated to George Flyod for his daughter's college fund 2.5 mill. Then he said he OD'd and it caused him to die. Then they're trying to sue him for 10 million.

What Alex Jones did was horrible but does not warrant such greed either. Both parties suck and i don't support nor condone either!

"Well what if your child blah blah blah...."

Yeah i'd be pissed too. But not angry enough to try to sue for 1/3rd of the US yearly profits.

You cannot support or condemn this but not do the same with something else or someone else. You gotta be concise.

When suing my general rule of thumb:

3 digits or below= petty but to prove a point. You lose more money than you make lmao.

first millions and below = A okay any situation for anyone or anything

double digit millions = in a Class action lawsuit

triple digit millions= it'd have to be alot of people or alotta damage

first billions= has to be a corporation beting sued

double digit billions= They'd have to have done a crap ton of stuff over years on years

triple digits= They basically caused a war in a country or it was a country / government that screwed over people

trillions=nope you've gone wayyyyy too far for anyone or anything. 8 bill people in the world a handful died is not gonna put a dent and tbh unless it was a group of aspiring scientists and engineers nothing of value will be lost that can't be replaced in a couple of months.

Think if I did that to any of his defenders they'd let it slide on the grounds of free speech?

None of this happened. You're one of those people that just parrots sensationalist propaganda. If you tried to find evidence of what you just described you'd never find it because it doesn't exist.

True.

I don't even like him, but it's a bit weird to want to completely destroy an individual financially and ruin their reputation.

This is how "government" operates. Well, at least in weird countries where they seem to think locking hostile people in horrific cells where they pee in front of strangers is going to give them any rehabilitation.

It's just mob mentality at this point. Send in the hounds, right? Let's just ruin someone's life

Jesus christ....I wouldn't even do that to my worst enemy.

As opposed to the years of hell he instigated...

You know what they say, what goes around comes around.

Suit yourself, but if I don't get out I'm looking at another long ban, which I really don't feel like dealing with going into the winter.

The cash amount is unreasonable but what isn't unreasonable is the reaction by the families...

I have nothing but understanding for families to be angry. When their children who survived school shooting (with lifelong trauma though) yet saw their school friends die, get painted as paid actors, it is indeed outrageous.

I support this lawsuit so long as it's applied to all of the American media. CNN,Fox news and
the others.

Then they should have stayed away from the media instead of pushing an agenda. You don't see the people of Wisconsin saying the police should jail people for having large cars after the Christmas parade attack.

You know perfectly well that isn't what people have been talking about, though.

You might, for instance, see people saying that you should need some kind of additional licensing to have larger cars. Which is not an unreasonable point to make.
