Today's music
Most of them are crap, and some are decent but not as good as the 80s. Today in PE class one of the rap songs with the lyrics nae nae came up. I hated it, and I don't understand how people actually think that's even decent music. I think I dislike songs because the lyrics have no meaning. I listened some songs from tupac, some of them were good. To make this short, is there any type of music that's actually good out there?

There are some diamonds in the rubble, but most of it is ♥♥♥♥.
not much i grew up in the 80's, the 90's were great then went downhill, commercial bands have always been bad (regardless of the decade), but the indie/underground stuff is still decent today you just have to find it
Just like in the 70s, 80s, etc., there's tons of crap music and tons of good music, and the charts usually have a ton of crap in them. You just need to look around. E.g. when you see a movie with good music, research what it is. Or listen to the gazillion available Web radio channels - I'm particularly fond of https://somafm.com/ Or use free services like LastFM which have a feature on the artist's pages where you can listen to similar artists, e.g. via the page of Sigur Rós[www.last.fm], I found this song which is one of the best I know (matter of taste, of course):

Seriously, the idea that it's hardly possible today to fill every minute of your waking life with stellar music of recent making is unreasonable. The trick is to find it, of course.
IMO, rap/hip hop has had the greatest decline in quality. You look back at Public Enemy, KRS-One, Wu Tang, Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, Schooly D, Rakim, EPMD, etc., and they're miles better than the garbage being put out today and most of the songs had actual substance, instead of the BBB (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, blunts and big screen TVs) of today's rap. The vast majority of today's rap music can be summed up as, "I'm rich, I ♥♥♥♥ a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥." There is definitely still some socially conscious rap today, but not much of it is mainstream.

There's still a lot of great metal music, punk rock, country, etc. But I think the biggest issue with today's music is that it is overproduced to the point where it sounds very artificial. A lot of singers use auto-tune (and not in the T-Pain way), where every single note is tweaked to be perfectly in line with the desired pitch. Automated correction in digital audio workstations can make it so that the kicks, snares and cymbals from the drumkit are always perfectly aligned to the measure. The guitar and bass notes can be altered to always have the correct volume output. All of these things that are done to make the music "better" contribute to a stale and artificial end-product that lacks the flaws of human input.
i realy have not paid any attention to the music since a guy named bob early stopped being a show promoter.
Go out and look for new music, don't just sit and wait for it to be handed to you. Most of the stuff you will get from the radio or TV isn't there because it's any good, it's there because someone is getting paid. I find new, good stuff pretty often because I go out and look. It takes a bit of digging to get past the most popular/promoted stuff.

Also, don't limit yourself by deciding all of one genre is the same based on limited exposure to a few prominant artists. It makes me sad when someone blanket judges a whole style because they heard it once and didn't like it. Try a genre you might not listen to normally. If you mostly listen to metal, try some rap or classical.

We do have lower standards than we did 30 years ago. Much of musical success today can be attributed to good marketing and elitists owning the market in Hollywood.

I honestly can't wait to see what happens when this current generation of celebrity artists passes on; I honestly don't think it can get any worse than it is now. Then again, our idol worship may just get even worse.

There's still a crap ton of good music out there, it just doesn't get played on tv and the radio.
Download Spotify and explore, you'll find something you like in about 2 minutes.

Your first mistake was calling it music.
I'm very picky about my music. I don't enjoy anything other than classical, Orchestral, and video game soundtracks like Dark souls and Bloodborne. Anything else doesn't have much of a charm for me.
I've seen so many times people on the internet saying "Today's music is garbage etc etc etc". Since when did good music get played on the tv and radio ever? Maybe in the early 90's when rock was getting popular again but that's about it.
You have the internet, go and find your music.

Tastes change, people like different things, music evolves. There are plenty of groups out there that do some pretty good stuff. You just have to seek it out.
