But if it's a small lie, or even a lie to keep someone safe, then yeah, it would be rude.
Example
"I'd prefer to play with sand" "hah lies that's because you can't swim".
For example, I could say:
„People are mostly stupid.“ - And that's quite rude, isn't it? If I present it this way. However, I could present it or express myself in different ways. For example..
„People are less intelligent than me.“ - Now, this doesn't sound so bad, does it? Nobody except those, who do know me personally can truly tell of how intelligent I am, and so it's up to other people to take a wild guess or to pass on judging me and dismissing this response as a whole.
As for lies that have been mentioned here, I would say that some lies are.. Good. The ones when you lie to protect your friends and loved ones, but I sure wouldn't advise to lie to the ones, who're honest and have always valued honesty over lies to protect them.
If it is a lie meant to make the one spouting it earn some kind of profit, in a situation you are totally unaffected and all others unaware, then yes.
If it is a lie meant to cause harm/damage to people, especially undeserving ones, then no.
Lies have a way of growing until they end up causing bad things to happen.
It's a judgement call you're going to have to make. But, you need to examine why you feel you must expose someone's lie. What's your motivation for doing so?
Your mistake is thinking that being rude isn't sometimes the lesser of two evils.
If they are lying about petty things I usually end the friendship, I can't stand liars view them as generally awful people
Telling the truth and exposing lies is a lot better than politeness.
What is the point of being polite when you're dealing with a bunch of liars?
