Nearly every article has someone in the comments, victimized or scandalized by something in the article. This phase of our culture will probably pass. I think, though, that to pass, great hardship and suffering will be required.
But yeah. My concern is if I ever use the word cancer, even in the most "formal" way possible, I'm just curious how many people I will offend.

yeah, you'll be censored over trivial things by creepy mods.
i'd probably use it unironically even if i was hours away from dying from cancer.
i think at this point its branched in its usage, and i think thats ok.
a lot of other languages have words that are context sensitive. its about time english got a few more.
We use kamikaze, suicide, dead, lame, idiot/imbecile/moron (all former medical terms for slow-witted individuals), blind, etc in casual conversation, so why single out this one word?
but the official dictionary describes it as not only the disease but any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively; blight.
Things like certain Youtubers for example fit the definition of cancer perfectly and thus I shall use the term for things such as that.
BANNED.
