Suggestion: BOYCOTT Steam in Australia until Deck is released here.

Here's a f*cking suggestion!!

I know most of you won't have the balls enough to do it; but I say let's stop buying Steam Store games etc. here in Australia & NZ until they release Steam Deck here.

Personally I'm giving them until Christmas/NYE to do it or I will be purchasing a Playstation 5 and a Nintendo Switch (both of which you can currently pick up for WAY less than a Steam Deck from O/S on eBay etc.) and I will not be purchasing another Steam game ever again. I will also be transferring my entire gaming enterprise to GoG or other clients for PC games. I am tired of false promises as well as pathetically programmed client software.

I will also be seeking legal advice as to whether I can receive refunds on all the games I've purchased in anticipation of the release of the Steam Deck, only to be left in the lurch yet again because of the American attitude towards Australia as somehow being unimportant and part of the third-world, apparently.

I don't think there is enough people that cares about the Deck enough for the "boycott" to have any reasonable impact likely to make things move faster.

Not that it's bad. But, it ain't like every Australian players bought a Deck.

No well we can't buy the deck or even reserve it so that's moot. Maybe it won't but maybe my words will encourage people to leave the platform anyway. It's pretty piss-poor these days. Gotta make a noise somehow right?

Ironic given your claim of seeking frivolous legal advice over never going to happen refunds. Terms of sale didnt include "steam deck coming to Australia"

Terms of fairness state that if I purchase a game based on it's console's imminent release and the console isn't released I've been falsely advertised to. Can't see how that's hard to imagine as a case. Also, ok, not invented, popularised, which is worse. :P

I'm Canadian btw. The only frivolous lawsuit I see around here usually find their origin in entitled people, funny enough that OP reminds me of that.

You bought a pc game, it neither required NOR was advertised to require the steam deck, nor was it tied in any way to the steam deck at all except in your mind.

The fact that you did something stupid is entirely on you and no government, not even yours requires refunds for user error.

Also compelled speech laws? Dude Australia has mroe compelled speech than Canada hands down. Hell your laws don't even GIVE you freedom of speech

Valve doesn't want to foot the entire bill themselves and is hoping for a partner with a retailer in Australia, like when they partnered with EBGames for the Index but so far, nothing concrete for this year is planned.
