VERY jealous of comfy dutch cycling life
Probably the most comfy bikes I've ever ridden.
Messaggio originale di Morkonan:
It's especially needed to those who live in rural areas. Riding a bike ain't going to happen when you need to take supplies that far exceed the carrying capacity of a standard bike.

Usually the people who advocate that bikes should be everywhere are just city slickers who never even been to a rural region before.
most people in this world can live with a bike and they all can also simply use a different bike for shopping... the people who cant go by bike are still a small minority on this planet, same as the people who live 2h away from next store

If I still lived in the city I would want one of these:

Maybe a trailer too:

I could haul a lot of crap with a setup like that. Easily as big a grocery haul as a typical car, just not as fast. That's alright though. People need to slow down a little anyway.

Out here in the wasteland though. Nah. Everything is too far away, and it would only be a matter of time until I'm road pizza.
I don't hate cyclists. I do (frequently) see them violate traffic laws, endangering both themselves & others.

So there's that.
When I used to drive to work there was usually a cyclist in the middle of the road blocking it, while there was a cycle path right beside them.

That's why people hate cyclists. I used to throw bottles of coke at them out of the window. I did knock a few off, it was quite funny.

A ton of cyclists form their personal space based on ego, and fundamentally believe they have the right of way at all times and aren’t subject to traffic laws.

If a pedestrian clocks them off their bike because they’re on the sidewalk and nearly running people down it’s the pedestrian’s fault.

If they cut across five lanes to make a turn, causing three near fatal accidents from cars suddenly stopping, then the cars were the problem.
I don't hate cyclists.
I despise them.
Because they usually are in big packs and take over a lane riding side by side, they don't give way also.

Cyclists respect nothing, numerous time these are the kind that try to argue with you while they clearly are NOT biking in the place they should be on top of that.
They congest the roads yet pay no fuel taxes that go towards road repairs.

yea it would make sense to lower taxes in general if you dont own a car.. like way more infrastructe than roads is based on car owners and everyone has to pay their share for the car dudes for no reason

i understand why you'd hate the cyclists in the middle of the road acting arrogant but to generalize to all is wrong
Why don't cyclists use the sidewalk instead of the bike road? Less riskier for both parties.
I'm trying to get into cycling so I'm trying to see this from both sides more (I'm also trying to get a licence so I'm getting all sorts of perspectives) but as a pedestrian I didn't like them on *sidewalks just as much as you don't like Cars in sharrows/bike lanes. Also just because we are walking doesn't mean we don't need to be just as rushed as you, if there's a bike trail without crosswalks and there are no rules about me walking there why shouldn't I use it? And if you are biking because you think it saves the environment/space then walking is even more effective then bikes at that. Some cyclists can also be a bit gatekeepy, with a lot of hate for ebikes despite wanting people to use bikes instead of cars (there is ABSOLUTELY no way I'm essentially running to a fairly physical job, bust my @$$ for 8 hours, then run back, especially in a heatwave or rain).

*I've also seen them break the law without consequences SO many times. Drivers always complain about it and I can't speak to that but the amount of times I've seen people riding rental ebikes on sidewalks downtown (ebikes are illegal on sidewalks in my State and ALL bikes aren't allowed on sidewalks downtown in my city) makes me unsurprised that they would break road laws. If you think the laws should be changed then campaign for that but when you break the law while it exists you just make the entire practice look bad.
