PS3 vs PS4 exclusives
Is it just me, were there a a hell of a lot more exclusives for PS2 and PS3 compared to PS4? Pretty much any game you could want on PS4 is available on some other platform.

I mean, FF7 remake and Horizon Zero Dawn been on PC for a while, Spiderman coming to PC maybe Ghost of Tsushima at some point. I think Sony is dropping the ball on exclusives, they should have kept Japan Studios going.

Nintendo seems to have the edge with exclusives compared to PS and Xbox these days so really if seeking the widest library of games probably best to get PC and Switch. Not gonna sell my PS4 but if I'm faced with a choice of PS5 or PC upgrade I'd have to choose the latter, even choosing PS5 for physical games seems irrelevant now.

EDIT: So it just turns out that Ghost of Tsushima has been confirmed to be coming to PC. Really not much left as far as PS exclusives go then.

PS3 has no games. PS4 has no games. I'm not even sure if the PS5 exists, I've not met a single person who has one.

Seriously, I'm surrounded by console gamers and for them it's all Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.
Xbox has 0 exclusives. They made gears forza and halo over and over from like 2007. You can play all their games on PC
I heard Fable IV will be the Xbox Series exclusive. Who knows for how long.

No it’s not just you at all…these are literal facts. Each generation we have seen less and less console exclusivity. PS2 era was absolute peak competition no one can deny that. We went from *it’s cool to have different consoles/PSX era* to *CONSOLE WARS IT’S ON!* And those wars went up all the way to the great Xbox 360 *Red Ring of Death* and PS3 *RIDGE RACER! Giant Enemy Crabs and Massive DAMAGE* and of course let’s not forget when Far Cry 2 tech demo of rhino’s taking a bath being a PS3 selling
point, back before FC2 would become a cult classic. Yes it’s still memed on :X XD

This was back when companies actually gave a fudge about trying to one up the competition and fight for sales when gaming still wasn’t main stream enough to just sit back and watch the cash flow in.

I think the final fight was with between those 3 including the Wii. Till finally comes the PS4 era and Xbox/Playstation along with their fanbases sorta threw in the towel.

Now we only see PC Master Racers and Nintendogs because Nintendo wants to pretend it’s still 2006 and also it’s Nintendo, they have to strive to be the odd ones out. PC Master Race is still mostly for the memes at this point.

It’s a fun fact but $on¥ has implemented xbox button prompts in their spiderman port on steam. Something that I haven’t seen them doing before. It indicates that $on¥ scammers are now so afraid of xbox after it’s acquisition of activision/blizzard, that they now even start catering to xbox players.

It's not you there have been a lot more games, especially good ones during 6th/7th gen in general.

Yep and Spider-Man lost exclusivity.

Frenzy is red, Rumble is blue, Soundwave is superior and so are you!
Why thank you, but not as superior as Supergirl. Frenzy is blue, Rumble is red, Supergirl is supreme it must be said!

What's left after Tsushima now that it's confirmed to be coming to PC? Astro Bot rescue and Ratchet and Clank?

I really liked games like Puppeteer and Tokyo Jungle on PS3, they were so unique. Real shame Japan Studios closed shop and there aren't any interesting exclusives for PS4/5 era.

I know people joke a lot about the Giant enemy crab and Sony at 2006 E3, but PS3 still remains my favourite Sony console. My gut feeling is you're right about PS2 and exclusives but PS3 and Vita still had a lot of great Japan Studio exclusives among others.

I bought a PS3 when the first slim model came out and I fell in love with it instantly, and my appreciation of it has only grown. For example, I've got my slim hooked up to both a CRT and 4k monitor and can play HD content no worries using HDMI and use the component cables to CRT for PS1 and PS2 games without having to unplug a thing. I still prefer DS3 over DS4 as I hate the low profile Share and Option buttons, I've still never gotten used to them. I also prefer PS3's XMB, the PS4 interface sucks, it's just so bland.

The console wars don't really mean much these days when it comes to Xbox and PS5, but in my view if it had to be a choice between either I'd have to say PS5 because Xbox Series x/s always online DRM is anti consumer and PS5 doesn't have this issue.

But if the choice is between Xbox and PS5 from a games perspective, it's much of a muchness.

Nintendo obviously doesn't prioritise hardware performance compared to other consoles for Switch generation but at least their investing heavily in developing games in house and making something different to Sony and Microsoft which can only be experienced on their platform. And when you look at how many units Nintendo has shifted with the Switch they're obviously doing something right with their strategy, so really Sony is in the most precarious position because at least in Microsoft's favour they've hedged bets in PC gaming market, and Sony is just selling a game box which can play the latest games, but big deal really.

So, I think Sony is having somewhat of an identity crisis with the Playstation at this point because it doesn't really have compelling reasons to desire the console in the first place, unlike the PS1,2, and 3 which I felt like i "had to have" when they first came out.
