Reddit is Trash
Just like to say that Reddit is trash. It is impossible to use the website with a new account. I'm not even sure why they still allow people to create new accounts. Every single group has a requirement that I can't post until I get X number of reputation points, and I can't get reputation points until I post, so the website is fundamentally flawed.

They expect me to randomly comment on 100+ posts before I'm allowed to ask a question, which is the entire reason I decided to create an account there. So sure, I'll spam 100 different posts with "asdhjioasjildjas" just so I can create a post of my own.

Moderators keep giving me some b/s story about bots and spam, and tell me to comment and gain at least 250 reputation points before I can post.

I don't care about bots, or spam. I am not a bot, and should not be punished just because other people are. Websites really need to figure out a way to handle this stuff, because randomly blocking people from participating just because they have an issue with bots that they are unable to resolve isn't reasonable.

Reddit is like real life in that you can slap the taste out a mf'ers mouth if they look at you sideways. Here on OT you can't downvote comments, so everything stays up, even the most braindead takes. In that way, OT is a trollers dream.
Nothing of value is exchanged, though. A lot of posts with good intentions are unjustly thrown in the garbage, and there can be no exchange between two communities with polarised viewpoints, because the other will lean towards silencing the other's viewpoints, if not by down-votes, then by moderator.

Exactly what I said about poisoned wine. You're being told all the things you want to hear on Reddit, because you're on a site build around doing that. I'd rather have provocative opinions allowed than metaphorically bathe in my own filth. The best of Reddit can be very good, but that's not what the site is aiming to show me.
People who lack value literally need a number assigned to their opinions.

Without it, they can't create dopamine. It's similar to lootboxes, or insta girls.

it's always about the next fix. Keep scrolling. Keep posting.

It creates more problems than real ideas, because people are farming karma more often than speaking their mind.

i won't read the full story but you have 2 options

quit or limit yourself. i recommend quit because limit yourself seems to put some extra works and you probably hate that

but that's not how Reddit works. Reddit is suppose to create a subreddit for every new group that emerges. it purposefully creates echo-chambers, so you don't need to fight.

if you're fighting on reddit it's because you don't know how it is supposed to work. it's the place for infinite niche+1 grouping, ever differentiating itself from itself. The fact that you want provocation means you want trolling.
I don't believe politics should ever be isolated into an echo chamber. Perhaps that's where we disagree, and why many people like the smaller/innocent communities on the site. If you're looking for the best cat picture on the internet, you'll probably find it; there's many cat experts on the site. The same cannot be said about politics.

Reddit is great for archived threads that offer solutions to obscure PC problems.

Reddit is awful for meaningful dialogue or 'takes' of any kind

there are places on reddit for serious discussion about politics that deal with differing opinions.
Yeah. The quality of discussions on OT is simply better, always fun to watch the same amalgam of middle aged dudes rant about trivial stuff over-n-over again. And we're not even a circle-jerk, we're a square-jerk!

Politics on reddit is pissing in an ocean of piss.

serious discussion is pointless against entrenched opinions, and I have never seen anyone change their mind.

It's little more than armchair boredom

To add to that thought, the first reply is usually disproportionately up-voted. It encourages a fast "reply, receive positive feedback, and forget" loop. On the site's larger sub-reddits, it feels more like a competition to quickly throw out a reply likely to garner the most attention, than it does a competition to have the utmost best/meaningful reply.

Hot takes are rarely the best ones.

Wait for it to cool down, blow on it once or twice. Add some cream

The funny thing about that is I didn't say I was a right winger. I only proclaimed that I'm against the abuse of children. And this is why your "offense" is disingenuous, you're not offended about being identified as a redditor, you're just offended that I'm not a leftist. You're just trying to pick a fight and I won't play that game.
look, spin it anyway you want so you look good to yourself. you used the term 'predditor' and that's right wing virtue signaling. if you had described your concern as 'abuse of children' then it would have been all good. but you didn't use that, you used a loaded propaganda phrase. i didn't like it and i commented about it. if you're not those people why are you using that term?
This is a no spin zone. And my vocabulary has no limitations.

I have no doubt, I really do believe there are some reasonable political communities on the site. But with the stuff I'm seeing on the home page, they're certainly not encouraging that environment.
