Good actors don't always turn in good performances. I'll give you Ice Cube, who I've always liked in movies anyway, but his is the only halfway memorable performance in the film.

If you want a good example of "good actor slums it up", witness Roy Scheider phoning it in on Jaws 2, versus his awesome performance in the original film. Or go watch Ben Kingsley embarrass himself in Bloodrayne.

Jaws 2: i didn't see it, or i did and i can't remember it. either way, i figure its bad.

Nah, not gonna. Ice Cube is a good, charismatic actor and has been since Boyz N The Hood (he ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stole that movie, which is even more impressive since the acting in it overall was so good).

He's also good in Glass Shield, Three Kings and the Friday movies.

You even said it yourself; the themes are what drive the movie. Not the story, or the characters, or anything else of potential substance. It's themes, therefore a "message movie". This is what takes it out of the realm of social commentary, and drops it straight down the woke piece of ♥♥♥♥ abyss.

Granted, this happens to be a very common thing these days, so in a way, you were right: Higher Learning was indeed prophetic.

well i was being generous, compromising for purposes of creating a bridge.

it is a character driven movie, and the themes are the story. it's not a message movie per se, as it doesn't decry higher learning as any real message movie would have given the circumstances of the plot. you know, it's not against university life.

it has the characters being changed by the circumstances, by their experience in higher learning. it is a social commentary film, but it subverts that by being a tragic film. there's no positive message to be had in the film, but it's not a negative take on uni life either.

the director's take on social interaction has definitely aged well though.

you always use the word woke in your other posts, but it doesn't make sense here because John Singleton is a black director. so your take kinda falls flat.

Probably was the movie The Gift by Blum house I don’t hate blumhouse but it was the worst movie I have seen the acting was bad and the twist was not a good twist

There are so many bad movies I think it is impossible to give an objectively "good" answer to this thread because there are too many of them, no matter how bad a movie you think is, I feel like the quantity of movies that could be considered worse wthan the one you choose will always be overwhelming. Sadly there is a limit to how good something can be but there is no limit to how bad soimewthing can be.
Anyway personally I really hate Signs and Forrest Gump because of how pathetic and obnoxious they are.
