Because not everyone wants to use mouse and keyboard, nor sit in front of a PC, they want plug and play and not the hassle of troubleshooting PC brings.
Have your seen the prices of PC games recently, they keep rising.
Bloodborne, Demon's Souls are not and that is just two examples.
Now PC and mobile games have basically overtaken them. Now it's just a bunch of hipsters and nostalgia friends that want them.
Mobile and portable game consoles have enough running capacity to run standard flash styled games or ROMs. Basically your phone is a mini computer at this point without RAM for all the space for stuff default.
PC is basically the stuff used to make games. Modding and other games out there not on consoles b/c you need a powerful enough computing technology plus RAM data space.
Consoles are a weird middleman. It's like too overkill for mobile ports and junk (why the Ouya failed above all else lmao) and still too weak to undershot games on the lvl of PC. With cross platforming and getting controller compatibility consoles have lost less positives as PC continues to innovate.
Also the price range and the requirements:
-new consoles cap at around 40 fps
-memory is low
-requires physical game disks
-bulkier than handhelds / mobile but also as much as PCs
-features on steam or other platforms like online store or mods / forums are non-existant
-requires a pass to use the multiplayer servers (idk if it's still true but when ye old xbox 360 days you needed one)
Basically consoles are soon to become obsolete like arcades were during the pandemic and are nowadays.
People want convenience to be green and all that garbage labels. Not just people but the industries too. Mostly for less $$$$ to pay for stuff and get more $$$$ capital but overall no one wants to invest heavily into consoles anymore. The only thing i'll actually vouch for is VR b/c it does require hardware headsets.
But Valve has been sinking tons of $$$$ and labor recently for years to make VR in PC explode. Once that picks up there would be literally nothing for consoles.
Wii was god tier all in one computer shopping browsing game and VR
Nowadays though if we can just fine tune it then it'll become PC with VR. It's the ultimate final evolution of gaming. At this point may as well just have consoles become mini PCs or just become PCs with the game logo.
Pure consoles are a bygone era. They need to heavily invest into something like VR or streaming / movies online (keyword ONLINE) in order to get a footing on the portable/handhelds or PCs
Even console exclusive games are no longer exclusives and come to PC or mobile at some point. People would rather wait it out. Or devs / publishers cut out the middle man and go to all other outlets instead of exclusively consoles. Plus most exclusives games and most games nowadays suck ass. So even less to non-existent reason to get a console JUST FOR A GAME!!!!
edit: 60 fps it was a typo
2 it's not just b/c ITS PC but we have a forum. Don't really have that with consoles. Unless you got friends banter and ranting or discussing games isn't as easy sadly.
Neither version of Demon's Souls are "actually" on PC. Can you buy either on PC.? No.
People have been saying that for a long time about Bloodborne and it released in 2015.
Note: Both Demon's Souls (original) and Bloodborne were co-developed with Sony and Sony owns the ip for both.
Yup, it's personal preference.
It is actually SOLD on PC?
Is it SOLD on PC making it an OFFICIAL PC port/game. The answer is no.
the cost going through the roof nowadays may as well invest a bit more $$$ into a decent rig to do more stuff like check emails make emails stream mod do other business and computer stuff on it vs a game console.
Once VR kicks off on PC as the standard it's over. Consoles will be gone. Nothing could really save them short of becoming just PCs with the game logos on them.
The point is it is NOT sold on PC, nor OFFICIALLY released by Sony as a PC game. In other words Sony do not condone piracy.
Thank you - free points.
