Why are so many modern developers obsessed with putting ugly characters in their games?

By ugly; I mean characters that are not pleasing to the eye. Games like horizon zero dawn, mass effect andromeda, last of us 2, various indie titles, etc. All have really ugly and hideous main or supporting characters that physically hurt to look at. They're not gross like horror movie/game monsters. But designed to be off putting in a way. They give me uncanny valley vibes. Like they are supposed to be human, but not actually. They look like malformed or corrupted versions of humanity, like there's something wrong with them, something evil and dangerous.

On the flip side, I dont like anime waifu gacha games either. Something about how flat faced anime characters are, just creeps me out. I dont hate anime. I used to love naruto and dragon ball back in the day. But I grew out of it.

3.Femininity does not have respect

Woman characters in comics were always a bit....over-sexualized to a degree. Example would be wonder woman. Who was apparently modeled after the creator's secretary, and whose canonical weakness is bondage (I kid you not, a legit weakness for a goddess made of magic and clay, is being tied up)

It's sad actually. It's like there's an agenda against what normal well adjusted people like and want to see in their entertainment.

Realism has nothing to do with it. It's just an excuse to further contaminate the cultural canon with rot and disgust.

Beauty has an objective nature underlying it. You just naturally know, when something or someone is beautiful or not. Or at least pleasant to the eye. Pleasant to enjoy experiencing.

I would like to posit a theory that I feel doesn't get touched upon in these discussions.

There is a desire, especially among normal women, to remove *autistic* men from the equation when it comes to gaming. This is because normal women tend to reject the autistic as romantic or sexual partners.

These same autistic men then have one of three options; outgrow their autism in the hopes of becoming more attractive, find someone more in their league, or retreat into the fantasy of fictional women in media (who I will call waifus for convenience)

As the Waifu fantasy doesn't demand social maturity from the autistic man engaging in it, this encourages emotional stagnation while simultaneously giving the autistic man an outlet for his desires, even if that outlet is in the form of a simulacrum.

Women, generally speaking, are very sensitive to the idea of a man "bypassing" the process. Similar to why women loathe "Nice Guys" (men who try to compensate for their lack of social and material ability by overcompensating with kindness and servitude), women loathe the concept of men who they already determined to be unworthy of reproduction having an outlet for their desires outside of their control.

"How dare he fantasize over a Waifu? We've already determined he shouldn't have a partner! He's not supposed to just settle for a fantasy!"

So the uglification of female characters serves as an effort to strip away the ability of autistic men to fantasize over waifus

They hate women because they don't get any. They hate beauty because they lack it. They hate family because they don't have one. And they hate happiness because they don't have any.

And most of all, they hate it when people enjoy anything and everything that could be considered a means of escapism. Because they want anyone and everyone focused on their ideology. That's why they force themselves into everything and their creed onto everyone.

It's as simple as that. It's not even about the money. They get paid regardless of whether or not the game is a success. After all, their war chest is in the multi-trillion range.

I saw it. What's more, not everyone is "strong and independent", ultra athletic, proficient with weapons, heroic, etc. etc.
