Any good rpgs for a mindless grind up for sale?
what i'm talking about is having fun mass killing/skilling in a game, and being rewarded, not just going from point a to b, and seeing if the 1 in a billion chance dropped, and repeating

Grim Dawn FTW. Also after you sink 1000 hours into it, you can refresh the experience with the Dawn of Masteries mod (available at Nexus), which contains a metric butt-ton of classes from Diablo 1,2,3, Titan Quest, and original class packs.

the mod balanced at all or are you an all powerful god with certain combos,

If action RPGs are an option, I suggest Grim Dawn. The base game has a decently long main questline, six classes, allows multi-classing, has multiple hubs with randomly generated quests which are accessible both during the main story and after you complete it. The expansions increase the level cap and add more story content as well as two player classes.

Edit: It also offers a variety of difficulties, but like Diablo, they have to be unlocked by completing the previous difficulty level.

arpgs are very welcome, I just havent come across many in recent years that have a good mindless grind that inst completely tied to not letting you get the drop you want, diablo being the worst in that reguard.

I would look up on gog they have a pretty good amount of rpgs. Pathfinder series is great or baldurs gate 3.
gog, at least last time I took a serious look at their library don't have nearly as many indies as steam, a good majority of their games come from 'we don't know how to makes games control properly' times. the games that tend to fly under the radar for me are almost always indie games or games that are several years old and I forgot I was watching them.

and while I would probably buy gog first over steam, I still have money from gift cards on steam,

lol, I love that the floodgates are open, you can find gems among the dung this way and not have the buy off a sketchy third party site that you have no idea if it's legitimate or not.

take 3079 as an example, I think its a gem, just one that is short lived, and gog doesn't really have 'indies' as people think of indies, they have games people are surprised when they hear its an indie.

then you have games that obviously should be there, last epoch being a great example, but its just not there, either because the developer refuses to remove a drm, or because its just not there. I do believe that gog has games that are in development for sale, they are just really choosey about it.

Mindless crafting jrpg that I really enjoy. The grind might be a little short for you since you can craft some really strong stuff right as you get to the end game. Higher difficulties do offer some good challenge and the combat and crafting systems are really good.

Grim Dawn is not like Diablo in that regard. As your character forges relationships with different factions you get access to recipes for crafting of epic items, allowing an alternative to random loot drops. Legendary items are very rare on the other hand. If you play the game on "normal" difficulty, it's pretty forgiving. On the Veteran difficulty, things become notably different. Past level 30 or so, you have to start being careful about resistance to elemental and other status effects (like poison, bleeding, burning etc), as some have serious damage over time. Lighting and Aether damage is more delivered in big bursts.

Well, Diablo II: Resurrected is still a great game, but it is, like many ARPG games, a "looter-scooter" sort of thing. Diablo started and is king of that genre. :)

In that vein, though, "Path of Exile" is a free ARPG and while it is very definitely the "King of Grind" there's a feature you may like: Solo-Self-Found optional play.

You can choose to play in this SSF (Solo-Self-Found) mode and you will not be able to engage in trading/buying items (for fake currency in-game) with other players. And, as a result, your loot drop percentages are enhanced. So, it's more likely you'll get some decent drops and will be able to fuel your build with them than not. You will play "solo" and only get "self found" items that you find along the way. (Crafting is not limited, btw, just drops.)

It's Free-to-Play. It has an in-game real-money marketplace driven primarily by vanity items/skins. However, there is also a page for "Stash Tab" items. The "Stash" is the player's "treasure chest" where they put all their stuffs. Without spending any money, you get a Stash with one page, I think? Two? I forget. Anyway, while one can certainly play through the whole game without ever buying anything and not have anything in the way of performance or content negatively effected by that... one is going to run up against a very big need for additional Stash Tabs. One's stash is "infinite" and if one chooses to play in a current League (new content issued every quarter) all one's gathered loot gets dumped into one's "Standard League" Stash when the League is over and one's character is ported over to Standard play. (My standard Stash is probably obnoxiously full of crap stuff. I never wanted to play "Standard.")

I haven't played PoE in many months. I just got burned out and tired of the "grind" every League. But, if one is looking for an ARPG option and one hasn't yet played it, it's a very good choice. It can also vary League to League, so there could be some interesting new League Mechanic content one may wish to explore one League, but a different League might not have much of interest for some players. It's worth checking on, now and then, because of all the content additions four times a year.

Sorry for the lengthy recommend. :)

If you don't mind rpg/strategy then hero's hour is good. I got it on discount at GOG.

It's a little buggy because it's a recently released indie title but is fun leveling up and destroying armies of enemies.
Path of Exile.
It's free and completely mindless. I stopped playing after like 17 hours but some people have hundreds of hours played.
Also Grim Dawn, it's basically the same game.
